Here are the old bikes, these where ripped off from our garage towards the end of last summer. Both bikes where in race trim, so well over $10K worth of bikes and race wheels went out the garage. My wife's bike was stolen too, but it was found in near by woods unharmed. My Tri and Track bikes never showed up, so the matching Argon pair are insurance replacements. The shop I race for, Argon is one of the brands they carry.

That's a sort of inside joke for people that frequent Slowtwitch. People over at that fourm Can somehow magically fit someone on their bike without seeing a picture of them and tell them things like Your Seat it to low. LOL

Hence why I only use ST for the classified section of their forum. ;)

That place about scared me out of doing my first triathlon. I go to BT if I need anything these days. How did you insurance take care of you on the bikes? Obviously it looks like the replacement gear is very nice!

The Insurance thing was an eye opener. We were way over insured on our houses (primary and rental) and under insured on our cars. They covered the bikes less depreciation and our $1000 deductible but I did not have a separate policy for them. This means we have a claim against our house and needed to adjust our policies or get dropped by the Ins company,.

Adding bikes on a separate policy via our home ins company is crazy expensive. I am slowly shopping for separate bike ins to see if there is s policy out there that makes sense $ wise.

I bought the Zipp wheels my self, did not use the Ins money for them. The bikes and the HED disc for he track bike pretty much wiped out the Ins money. I got the ZIpp 1080 for a screaming deal and it's brand new. The Sub9 disc is used and a bit beat up. I serviced the hub and its like new now. The carbon skin has a few dings in it that I filled and colored in. ALl of the race wheels are tubulars as that is what I want to run on the track and I wanted to be able to use the front between Tri's and Track. It will mostly see Track duty this season. Kinda funny now that there are so many really good clincher options out there for race wheels it's getting easier and easier to find great deals on tubular wheels. HED and that track disc was a PITA to deal with. Not sure I'd source an other track wheel from them ever.

It's terrible that whoever did this had to have some knowledge of what they were worth, which means they were more than likely part of the cycling community. It sucks that you can't even feel safe with stuff inside your property anymore.

I think it was more of a grab and go deal. The three bikes that were stolen where the ones in the garage easy to move. Our other bikes where on very high wheel hooks and tough to get down unless you are very tall or grabbed a ladder. My road bike (not cheap) was left alone up on the wall. My Tri and Track bikes where both leaning up against other things in the garage and my wife's bike was on the bike repair stand. I really hope that the track bike bucked one of them off of it. Being fixed and geared at 49x15 with no brakes it's not an easy bike to ride away or even run off with. Given where my wife's tri bike was found it looks like they walked off thru the woods towards an adjacent neighborhood. The local police that showed up once they found my wife's bike they both headed off to that neighborhood and it really seemed like they knew of more thefts coming from there. I now have all of the bikes in the garage locked up all of the time. Real PITA too.

My bikes aren't near in your price range but I have started putting them all inside or on my high racks for this exact reason after hearing about your theft. People will steal anything these days.

Do you get numb hands or shoulder/neck pain on long rides? Your seat angle is super aggressive.

You were on to something. I took the Tri bike out for its first outdoor ride today. While aero and on the road my seat was too low ��. Nice to finally ride outside though. We hit the local ski area for some am runs, picked up race packets for a local 13.1 tomorrow and then I got 45 hard and hilly miles in. Great spring day.

Steel + Jamis = WIN!

I had a steel Raleigh fixie that I rode and raced as single speed cyclocross the snot out of. Ended up getting a dedicated cyclocross bike and converting my old Ti Litespeed to my road fixie.

Here's my Jamis, comes in around 14.5lbs ready to ride. Not bad for no specific weight weenie parts.

That Xenith is a great looking bike. Looks comfy and fast. do you ride centuries on that Sean or just race it?

Suppose to be 60+ and sunny today in seattle. Getting out for my first short ride of the year. You getting out Sean?

Me and my fiance were thinking about training to do the Seattle to Portland in one day this year but that isnt' going to fly with trying to plan a wedding. We probably won't ride much at all this year.

Has anybody ridden on Continental Grand Prix's? I am thinking about going to 25C's from my gatorskin 23C's. From what I can tell they are suppose to be a lot more comfy but still pretty durable.

Don't road race, so the SL is my nice day go fast bike and group ride bike. I have done Seattle to Portland on it too.

I believe that STP is sold out all ready. I ran in to that a few years ago and wanted to do more of a loop vs a point to point ride. I ended up doing North Bend to Carnation, to Monroe, to Stevens Pass, to Leavenworth, over 97, Cle Elum, and back to North Bend. 230 miles on the nose and solo.

My wife is heading out for a 20 mile run shortly, I'll pick her up in Issaquah and then bike home via Carnation Valley after a loop around Lk Samm. Will be on the tri bike as I need to build up mileage and saddle time on it. Plus my tri bike fits closely to my track bike and I working on getting ready for track season in June.

I have a ton of time with GP4000, GP4 Seasons, and Gatorskins. No time on the GPs, but I'd think they'd ride a bit nicer than the GP4 Seasons and wear better than the GP4000s.

I ride the 700X23 Conti GP's. I got 3k miles out of the last set. I rotated front to rear about 1/2 way through that. I probably could have gotten more, but I got two flats in one ride and called them wore-out.

I've always loved Conti's. The GP's are great.

Whats the deal with the integrated bottle, can you take it out for cleaning and wot not?

Darren; the intergrated bottle on the Transition is a Camel Back like bladder that can be removed and cleaned. Their is a section of the frame that opens up and that's where the bladder go's into. It's a cool feature. The hydration system on my Transition is so LAME. I'm using a Profile Like Areo bottle and when it's full and you hit bumps in the road you get your drink all over the bike and your handlebars it's lame.

An other pic of my track bike, working on getting a MTB right now, Been demo'ing some MTBs at the local parks and trails, I'm so hooked.

Grant, I haven't actually used the Shiv bladder yet. I'm taking it out for 40+ tomorrow, so I'll see how it works. It was actually one of the reasons I chose this over the Cervelo P3. I was using the Profile Designs bladder on my old bikes as well. It was terrible as far as splashing as soon as you hit a bump.

Been doing more and more MTB on local parks, mostly on my trusty old Redline Conquest with 34mm tires on it. Yesterday I was chasing some buddies on full suspension bikes and managed to land a jump wrong and rotate my bars forward which locked up my front brake... Quick trail side fix and back to bombing trails.

After some false starts, have ordered a Specialized 2014 Stumpjumper HT Expert Carbon World Cup. I was really looking hard the 2013 version, the but 2014 has some nice upgrades and worth a few weeks wait. Went for a hardcore XC rig as that's what I like to do. Plus I can bike commute from home to work and only ride on a few miles of road and the rest trails and MTB park and then bike paths. Will give me a killer 25+ mile work commute including 7 miles of MTB park in the middle and some great climbs. Really excited to get the new bike. The SRAM 1x11 drive train looks like so much fun, hoping I can put a 36 front ring on it and I might put a road cassette on the rear. I can hang with MTB'ers on the Redline with a 36x26 climbing gear, not really sure I need a 32x42 on the Specialized ever.

Got a new toy put together today. '11 Crux frame, SRAM Red crank, '14 Apex drivetrain, S-Works seat post, Zipp cockpit. Going to use it as a mix Road/Cross setup

If I only had one bike, it would be a Cyclocross bike. Have fun with it!

Finally managed to swing a TT bike. The boss decided we are going to do a 1/2 Ironman as a family team, the son will swim, I will ride and she will run. Sweet as I said but I will need a new bike..... All is fair, she got some new shoes.

Just got to get skin suit, wheels, aero helmet, etc etc....

Softly softly catchy monkey. Just ordered a casco aero helmet. As we run the standard 2:1 system here (every dollar I spend she spends two) an aero wheel set will cost me 10k. There are ways but being stealthy is imperative.

Friend of mine has a pic with her bike impaled into the trim above her garage from a roof rack. Both of our cars now can take bikes inside where they belong :) I do have a rear mounted rack for when there is an abundance of bikes, but that is rarely used.

That is the nice thing with the States. Easy enough to hunt around and find barely used aero wheels for very little $$$

I had picked up a 60mm deep set of clinchers for the wife's Tri bike over a year ago. She's not racing any more, so we gifted them to me for Christmas. I now have a 60mm training wheel set on my Tri bike :)

I sold off the Suib9 Disc I had, never saw any use. I have a 1080 rear and a disc cover for the 60mm rear for Tri/TT race days.

I would like a disk and tri spoke for the front. Just because they sound gangster and look cool.

Those helmets are nice. I keep thinking about one for track use.

Not all discs make the cool whoomp whoomp sound. My HED track disc is pure stealth, no noise what so ever. The flat discs like Zipp 900 they seem to make the proper disc noise.

I did the Zipp 1080 front for the track simply because I found it brand new for 1/2 price. Person that owned it decided they did not want to mess with tubular wheels, score for me. I don't want to mess around with Clinchers for track :) Then I happened into a matching rear for Tri/TT. It was a local sponsored rider's last season. He switch teams and sponsors so the Zipp was up for sale very cheap.

This is my VINTAGE steed that I bought new in the the late 80's. I rode the piss out of it and put over 10,000 miles on it one year in the peak of my cycling. This pic is when I finally sold it a few years ago to some PDX hipster. (I put the OEM pedals on it to sell. I always rode Look pedals.) The hipster that bought it was in vintage heaven.

Darren, I like that helmet. I haven't seen it before. I like the built in shield similar to the Giro Air Attack. I picked up a Specialized Evade aero road helmet a couple months ago and love it.

The visor system is way better than the air attack, it is held on with a bungy system so it can't fly off if it get winds underneath it and you can pull it out and move it up to move it off your face. The helmet is very nice quality, lots of nice little build details.

The shop that sponsors my bike team is a Specialized dealer. They got four Evades in today, gone within an hour. They were able to get two earlier in the season and went as fast.

The one Darren has I see on the Velodrome frequently enough. When you are moving your head around and looking up and down track to sort things out a tear drop shaped helmet doesn't work as well sideways. Giro Air Attacks are becoming popular on the track too. Haven't see any visor issues though.

Casco are a power house in track helmets, this is there first road helmet I think.
Just found the wheel set I'm going to buy I think. Planet X 82 front with 102 rear. Where they fall down on technology and **** factor, they stand tall on cheap.

Sean, we were going to head out there on Friday but figured it was rained out. You guys obviously got some racing in. Hopefully we will get out there a few times this season to watch.

The finial races did get rained out. We finished the Cat 1 / 2 races, but I don't think the Cat 3, Women's, and Cat 4 finished their third races of the night. It's preseason so the only thing we are racing for is up grade points and to shake off the cobwebs.

Sean, curious if you ever found separate bike policies that made any sense. Recently had my 1 yr old Trek poached out of my garage. Wasn't worth filing on the homeowners. Should've lied and said 3 bikes, 3 sets of golf clubs and 3 wakeboards were stolen....

I never pursued bike only insurance very far. Seemed to be 10% a year of insured value. With 5 expensive bikes and a few not so expensive bikes it's a lot shell out. I have all of the bikes locked up in the garage with a mix of cable and U locks. Bummer about your bike, it kills me that this stuff happens. I was in a crappy part of Tacoma earlier this week and saw what appeared to be homeless dude on a Colongo. I wanted to cry and take a pic at the same time.

Buddy picked up a 2014 version of the same track bike I have. Last night was its first races.

Have bike team-mate's SWorks Venge on loan for a little bit. Got it out for a ride today, set a bunch of PR's on Strava during the ride. It rides and climbs very nice. I had to really tweak his set up to get it to fit me. Di2 electronic shifting is nice, did not blow me away but is nice. First time with QRotor rings too. can't say I noticed anything different. Has a Quark power meter on it too.

My buddy just got a similar Venge. It's blacked out S-Works though with the Roval 60s on it and Force 22. Bike looks awesome. My LBS sold more Venge than any shop in the country last year. They are VERY popular around here.

My team-mate has an other SWorks Venge with Red 22 and Roval 60s on it. The one he is letting me ride is too big for him, will see if he wants to cut me a killer deal on it :)

My bro had a limited edition cav venge. It was a super nice bike, good middle ground, did everything well. Sure, it's no Giant but a pretty nice bike. Ha ha.

Anyone riding a 27.5" all mountain full squishy bike? Im thinking about getting one.... looking for something that pedals and can still hit the lift at big bear...

I've demo'd a few, liked the Pivot Mach 6 lots. I tried a Lapierre Zesty 527 and it felt heavy. The auto suspension is cool but I wish the bike felt lighter. I'm more of a XC rider when it comes to Mountain biking but I keep wanting a bike I can take jumping and to the local ski area in the summer and up to Whistler. I ride a 29" XC rig and have tried a Pivot 429, I'd go 27.5 wheels for a full suspension bike these days for sure.

Yeah, i've yet to demo anything. Im still debating my justification...which is my hardtail makes my back hurt and i just want something squishy... I've always wanted to try a pivot, love that they are from phoenix.

Ive been on a hard tail, ss for the past 4 years living in AZ and its been great. Just move to socal and the riding isnt real conducive to ss (at least where I have been) lots of steep ups and steep downs. Im planning on building my bike up 1X9 in the mean time.

I rode an old santa cruz heckler awhile back and enjoyed it, but I've heard they are kinda flexy compared to the new stuff and I dont think you can get one in a 27.5

I run 1x11 on my MTB and really like it. Its also a hard tail, and ridged. Not running a front shock since I mostly ride XC on it. May pick up a front shock and try it. I did order a carbon seat post and carbon one piece stem and bar last night. That removes the only metal bits on it ;)

I worked at a bike shop from 1990-94. During that time I eventually had access to pro sheet deals from the industry reps. Summer of '93 I bought myself a stumpjumper M2 FS (long gone, and man was that bike sweet... 23lbs with a Mag21), and my girlfriend a rockhopper sport. I married that girl. She never rode the bike but I'm loathe to toss it, so we moved it to grad school and back afterwards when we began our careers. All the while it's gathered a beautiful patina of dust. Seriously, I doubt my wife has ridden the bike 100 miles in 21 years.

So my daughter departs for college next week and rather than buy her a bike, why not let her "not ride" her mom's bike which is already accustomed to not being ridden, right?

So I've tuned it up, put on a new chain and new tires, and frankly it rides as nice as it did when I first built it up out of the box in 1993. I'm the only person who has ever wrenched on it and I'm really surprised at how well it has held up. I skimped on repacking the bearings when I pulled the bike out of the box in '93, but I've taken care of that with a fresh packing of phil wood.

Note the period correct (i.e. original) purple anno bottle cage and the scott vr suspension fork (also a pro sheet deal... and one of the very few aftermarket options back then) with threaded 1" steer tube to boot.

No chain guide. It's SRAM X01 that came on the bike. The wide narrow front ring and clutch rear derailure keep the chain on. I've KOM'd a few local down hill trail segments on Strava with it, done well over 1,500 miles, and never dropped the chain.

The team I'm on gets killer deals from our sponsoring bike shop. I now understand how racers can afford high end bikes. I'm both scared and looking forward to the end of season deals this year. I want to pick up my team mate's SWorks Venge, and have zero ability to convince the wife two new bikes are needed this year.
