Okay, hopefully someone like Doug will read this.

I have $250 total to spend on a set of front speakers for my 2003 F150 Supercrew. I already have the following components going in the truck.

Pioneer Premier 930 head unit (5volt preouts, 22x4 rms)
Image Dynamics IDQ10DVC2 sub (.5 cu.ft. enclosure)
Phoenix Gold XS2300 for the sub (300x1 into 4ohm mono)
PPI 2120 for the front speakers.
I intend to run the stock rear speakers off the head unit just for fill.
The PPI2120 is rated at 35x2 into 4ohms but that is the 12.7v rating so, from what I understand, it is stronger than that.

Considering the relatively low power of my front speaker amplifier, which set of speakers in my price range would give the best SQ. I don't listen to the stereo extremely loud but I do listen to a variety of music. Also, I prefer soft dome tweeters. Metal domes are too bright for my taste.

I have been looking at JL VR and XR series, Boston Rally series, ID components, Alpine Type R components and Infinity Components.

I have no problems with installation or making adapters to fit components into the stock 5x7 door openings.

What are your opinions?
Out of the ones you have listed go with the XR series JL's but i think they are more then 250?
If you can find the diamond motorsport series they are really low power friendly. Stay away from the bostons they need more pwr then your amp to sound good

My .02

I have a pair of Diamond S600s in my front doors. Going off of the rear fill connection on their crossover I have a pair of Diamond M361i in the back doors (Suburban)

I'm only running an older Xtant 50 watt x 2 channels amp to power both sets. Its super loud and sounds really good. I'd stay away from the Bostons like Rob suggests. I have had several sets of Bostons over the years, they like to be feed. Feed lots of power.

The JLs look to be your best choice, next I'd say the ID or Infinitys. It's all personal, buy what you like the sound of.

Well I wound up buying Eclipse Point Source 5x7's. Right now they are hooked up to my Pioneer hu and they are WAY BETTER than the stock speakers. Once I get them hooked up to the PPI 2120 they should sound even better.

They were fairly pricey at 250 but they are coaxials with an onboard crossover and were super easy to install since the crossover is mounted to the magnet. The other nice thing is the silk dome tweeters are not too harsh.
