Anybody have any tips for installing a Bimini top? I am going to install it this weekend and wanted to knock it out in one fell swoop and wanted to know if you guys had any tips?

Thanks.

I cut it twice and its still too short. Just kidding. Without knowing whether its tower mounted or boat mounted the best advise is get a couple of buddies to hold it in place so you can get a visual in different positions. Measure several times before drilling any holes. If it is tower mounted get it as high as possible still leaving room for acessories (speakers) this will give the most head room and also make board racks more accesible. Hope it helps.

Take it to a dealership and have them install it. I tried three times installing mine and I even had a pic from a gracious Calabria owner, problem was my bimini was a little different. I took it in and my local dealership installed it in 30 minutes and charged $25. I would have paid more in the beginning because my clamps scratched the tower where I "thought" it should go and not where they needed to go.

(Message edited by knwebs on June 29, 2006)

Thanks for the advice. Its mounted to the Tower. It looks like there are 6 clamps. One on each side. I'm going to have a couple buddies hold it fully extended so I can try to get it installed. The clamps are just like the one on a Wakeboard rack.

I completely reworked the bimini on my old boat. I used hose clamps to hold things in place until I got it dialed. Make sure you fold it up a couple times, it's easy to make the mistake where it won't fold without complete removal, and that's a big PITA.
