The approach
 
So I've been wakeboarding for a while but only being seadoos. This is my first year with my boat 99 SAN and I'm not consistent jumping w2w. What angle are u suppose to hit the wake. I've heard people say square up with the wake but is that perpendicular or parallel. It also seems like my knees buckle when I hit the wake. I'm 135 5'8 riding a 139 Watson. I don't have video yet but I will in a couple weeks when I get back from vacation. Thx

The videos are the right approach.. it's just sometimes hard to make yourself do what you know you need to do.

Take a camera out and video yourself.. usually it looks totally different than you THINK it should.

If your knees buckle when you hit the wake then you are not standing tall against the wake. In other words as you are hitting the wake or going up the wake you should be straightening your legs. Or as some say you should be getting up out of a chair. Cause after you cut out from the wake, and wait for the boat to start pulling you in to the wake at a moderate speed increasing your load on the line (creating a progressive edge) you should have legs bent like you are sitting in a chair.

Ride through the wake. Stand tall (stand up) as you are going through the wake. Don't let out when you get into the wake. Make sure you ride all the way through it. When you land stay on your edge and ride away.

It took me a while to get the idea of the progressive edge.
We used to cut out as wide as possible and then cut back towards
the wake pulling on the rope going Mach 1. What would then happen
is right as we got to the wake our testicles would drastically shrink (due
to going Mach 1 and approaching a large wake) and we would let off
our edge and flatten out the board and absorb the wake with bended knees.
We were able to go w2w using this method once in a while but it was rare and
I always felt pretty out of control. Finally, one day I got it. I cut out as far as I want
to and then just flatten the board out and relax. In a bit the rope will tighten up
and the boat will start pulling you back towards the wake. Then, as you are
drifting back towards the wake gradually start edging the board and slowly build it.
When you get to the wake you should be going your fastest and stand tall off the top.
You really want to feel the line tension from the boat and it will be the most when you
leave the wake. When you get it it is amazing how easily you clear the wake and
how in control and effortless it feels.
My friend still has not grasped this yet and will still go mach 1 and usually get about 2
feet of air and crash. Just keep working on it and you will get it. You need to have the
board on edge when you hit the wake for w2w's. The people in the boat should be
able to see a good portion of the bottom of your board.
Now if I could just get the toeside w2w, lol.

Try the learn wake website. Theres some very valuable info there. Also YouTube these days has millions of hours of footage on how tos for nearly everyhthing.

Thanks duke! Very good description. That is very clear what I'm doing wrong. I have the progressive edge but I'm flattening the board off at the wake, I'm not keeping my edge through the wake Hoping to go this weekend so we will see. I'll update you guys.
