I would like to hear what people think that have made the switch from a X1 to a X2 (or are very familiar with both). Just wondering if the switch was worth it and why you think so. I am thinking about buying a X2 in the near future. Thanks

waterfreak 09-08-2007 11:56 AM

Love my X2. Never had an X1 or ridden in an X2 older than 2006 (new body style) so can't help you there. If I was to by a boat again this next year it would hands down be another X2. Best all around boat (mini Xstar) I have found for surfing, wakeboarding, and some skiing and the room it has is awesome. We have 8 folks regularly ride with us and it never feels crowded.

misfits1981 09-08-2007 12:05 PM

I'd say it would be a good choice to go with the X-2. Pretty sick boat. I've had the chance to ride and drive a few. Wake is nice for everything and it is definately roomy. a lot roomier than the X-1.

xstarrider 09-08-2007 2:28 PM

I would go X15 Vs the X2. Just my vote though. Can't beat the wake on the X1 the X2's is just so dam touchy. If I was going to upgrade from my 2000 X-Star same as your X1 It would be X15 without a doubt after being behind both the X2 and X15. But if you are wanting to stay in the 20ft range X2 would be worth the upgrade from room only. X1's wake is still gonna be hard to beat, you just get more boat out of the X2.

1boarder_kevin 09-08-2007 3:10 PM

Thanks for the info. What do you mean by touchy? Side to side or speed wise. MC says the stepped hull gets up over 24 mph, but I ride around 25 mph. I wondered what the wake does as you speed up.

byrd 09-09-2007 9:13 AM

It all comes down to what you want out of a boat. If you are a hard core wakeboarder that is only concerned with the wake characteristics, then go with the X-1. If you are more concerned with comfort and room, then go with the X-2. I ride in a small group usually 2-3 people and IMO, for the money, the wake on my 05 X-2 cant be beat. But either way, you cant go wrong with either one it just comes down to what you want out of it...

faceplanter69 09-09-2007 10:20 AM

^^^^ <BR> <BR>agree <BR> <BR>best wake ever made. Love the 05x-2!

sidekicknicholas 09-09-2007 6:05 PM

The X-1 I had this summer was worthless

ok......<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Can;t argue the X-1 wake.. you'd be saying the PWT tour boat back in 01, 02, 03 is <font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font>

wakeboardSTL loves there x-2

byrd 09-10-2007 6:48 AM

Nick, have you ever heard the saying "It's not the arrow it's the Indian"? <BR> <BR>To say that about one of the best wakeboats that has ever been used, doesnt make you look very credible...

c640947 09-10-2007 9:23 AM

use the search function and you will find lots of commentary on the X2, its wake and overall opinions, positive and negative.

sidekicknicholas 09-10-2007 9:33 AM

If you pay near 50k for a boat, one should expect a little more out of the box... stock wake sucks, plain and simple... our cc210, from 95 throws a better wake w/o weight then the stock weight in an X-1... <BR> <BR>sure the boat has been around forever, but an X-series boat should come out swinging and not need an extra 1000 lbs to make it worth riding... maybe i'm old fashioned but 50k is a lot of money to then have to upgrade more, but if you got it what the heck huh

willytown12 09-10-2007 9:52 AM

the 205v hull is one of the best wakes I have ever ridden. Its tough for a manufacturer to build a boat with a great stock wake because they have to assume that the ballast is full when setting the coast guard restrictions as far as how many people the boat will hold.

1boarder_kevin 09-10-2007 10:13 AM

I have searched and read every post on the X2 and it seams that at least 8 out of 10 wakeboarders prefer the X1 wake over the X2. All I do is wakeboard and personally don't see myself skiing or surfing in the near future. I was looking for a little less of a kick and more of a ramp and wondered if the X2 would give me that. <BR> <BR>Being that most dealers won't demo a X2 with 1800 lbs of ballast (and my dealer is 4 hours away), does anyone ride in a X2 in SC or NC that wouldn't mind me riding a set. I would bring gas money and help clean the boat afterwards. Thanks

gti2lo 09-10-2007 7:47 PM

Nick- DO you have something against the X-1? <BR> <BR>Every post I read you are bashing the boat! <BR> <BR>Almost sounds like you are jelous of something you can't have nor can afford and are venting it in true "e" fashion! <BR> <BR>hmmm 19 year old student... gotcha.. <BR> <BR>Coming from someone with a 95 CC..... right <BR> <BR>Factory ballast has everything to do with capacities and passenger loads... Manufacturers know better than to put 2500 lbs of ballast and then only have 5 people in the boat. <BR> <BR>Try to remember the target market of the boat buyer here... the guy in the 30-50 year old range with kids and wife are going to require passenger load, quality, comfort, storage space, etc. Not to mention various wake sizes from small to mid.. and typically if they want a big wake... they can afford the $500 for extra sacs, pumps etc.

gti2lo 09-10-2007 7:51 PM

Kevin- The X2 wake will give you much more of a gentle ramp for the wake shape... you can charge at it much harder without going "fly-high" <BR> <BR>unlike the X-Star is doesn't have like lil lip to kick you at the top. <BR> <BR>X-1 has a medium ramp (with box wieghted) and the wake has a nice kick at the top.. (not as forgiving as the X-2) <BR> <BR>Is the X-2 worth the extra $10k? Space wise..yes. Cockpit depth and availible "bling"...yes

sidekicknicholas 09-10-2007 10:38 PM

I do have something against an X-1, the one I had this summer was 100% free to me, (affording it wasn't the issue, mind you I am poor as hell with school and a boat payment but)... as in free gas, insurance, lift, everything, free... and I still chose to use my 95 cc, paying for gas, insurance and all the other goodies... <BR>thats saying something about the X-1 <BR> <BR>and what does this mean: <BR>"hmmm 19 year old student... gotcha.. <BR> <BR>Coming from someone with a 95 CC..... right" <BR> <BR>Sorry for stealing the thread <BR>I guess its clear IMO.... X-2 <BR> <BR>sure the 95' may not shine a lot but beat this for 18k <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/499425.jpg" alt="Upload">

trojanman 09-10-2007 11:12 PM

Dude... there is no denying that the X1 throws a superior wake then the one pictured above... although that wake is totally rideable! <BR> <BR>Here is and 05 X1 with about 1500 extra... -- food for thought.. I now have an 06 X2 that has tons more room and until about 2 weeks ago threw an only decient wake... but after a prop change.. the wake is now comparable to the earlier model.. stoked on the new X2<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/499432.jpg" alt="Upload">

laptom 09-11-2007 2:21 AM

Joshua, this is a great wake!! But also the wake Nick shows us looks great! <BR>I've owned both the X1 (2004 X2) and a 210. The X1 gives you a great wake, but as you standed: with a lot of extra ballast. When riding stock I prefer the firmness and size of a 210. With an extra 1000lbs the X1 is great. Perhaps the best wake available although this is personal. But I understand Nick. When throwing $50k for a X1 you need to throw an extra $300 for 3 fatsacks to enjoy this wake. That and the fuel consumption where the reasons I sold mine '04 X2 and went for a '06 210 instead of a '07 X2. Just have to figure out if I'm going with an 220 or a X-star for next season.... <BR> <BR>I never rode behind a new X2. So no wake comparison from me. But I've been in a new X2 a couple of times. I like the interior room of the new X2! The dash is a bit to much bling for me, but the rest of the interior is perfect for a 21ft boat!

22parksm 09-11-2007 3:23 AM

Joshua, <BR> <BR>What prop do you have?

byrd 09-11-2007 6:29 AM

Nick, wake size and shape is a personal preference, but you really need to tone down the BS for your own good(credibility). One of my crew has a 01 Nautique, same hull as yours, and I have an 05 X-2. We alternate and I can agree that stock the Nautique wake is a little better than the stock X-1, but it too doesnt come alive until you put 750's in the back and about 600 in the front of it, just like my X-2. But trying to say that you would rather pay for the nautique hull vs a free MC makes you sound like an idiot...

woreout 09-11-2007 6:37 AM

Nick, is that a rooster tail or did a depth charge go off behind that 95 lump o shht?

1boarder_kevin 09-11-2007 7:05 AM

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm tired of hearing this boat has a better stock wake compared to that boat. I judge boats based on how the wake is at its best. And for the $50,000 line, If you got $50,000 to spend on a boat, another $300 shouldn't break the bank (if it does, you are in over your head anyway). <BR> <BR>As for your 95 CC, I don't give a shi+. I don't remember asking about a CC.

sidekicknicholas 09-11-2007 7:54 AM

Again, im sorry there was a slight highjacking of the thread, but I'll pput it all aside, I would strongly advise - X-2, I've been in them, never rode off one, but interior was way better than X-1, and I'm sure the wake is too... <BR>so X-2... or maybe even a demo X-star or something

c640947 09-11-2007 10:37 AM

kevin - The X2 has more ramp than the X1. I have also found you can make it kick you quite a bit if you want it to. It has a little lip at the top that is caused by the cut in the side on the hull, but you dont have to use it if you dont want to. Kinda hard to explain. <BR> <BR>I love the X1 wake. I used to ride a 95 190 which is essentially the same shape, just a bit smaller. For a lot of people, an X1 is probably a better wake to ride. It isn't as wide and is easier to shape correctly. <BR> <BR>But.... for more advanced riders it isn't as wide and I don't think it can be made as big. Close, but not quite. Plus the X1 is tiny on the inside comparitively. X2 is better for surfing, blah blah blah all the stuff you have read. <BR> <BR>So if size of boat, cost of the boat and the rest don't matter, it will come down to preferance of wake shape and width in my opinion. I love the X2 wake. I ride a lot of other boats on a regular basis (05 xstar, 07 vlx, 08 22 ssv, 07 (or 08?) RZ2) and mine and the Xstar are my favorites. Some people (tend to be less experienced riders or people not used to mine) have trouble on mine though. <BR> <BR>No offense Adam - I hadn't ridden yours totally sacked out yet for a good comparison. The RZ2 is very good too, but it kept washing on us for some reason. Malibu is great too, just more narrow than I like. Have to ride way out. <BR> <BR>I'd love to offer you a ride on mine, I don't live close. Best thing to do is test ride if you can. Surely someone in the End of Rope Gang has an X2?

c640947 09-11-2007 10:44 AM

gosh mentioning the cut in the wake makes me wanna find a way to take a picture of it. i have never seen another boat with it. when the water is glass you can clearly see it from behind the boat. I may try to get a pic of it this weekend. It changes the shape of the wake beyond about 50 feet or so? anyone else know what i am talking about? Adds to the pop i was talking about. kinda of weird looking, but very cool concept. I really didn't notice how visible it was until a week or so ago.

Koen -- Im running an ACME 1285 prop <BR>.. <BR> <BR>I called the guys over at ACME and explained to them my type of boat as well as how much extra weight I was planning on running (1200extra). After a nice little chat with the ACME staff they recommended the 1285. It has made so much difference in 1. how quickly the boat planes out 2. the size of the wake 3. The amount of water that the boat is now able to move -- meaning the size of the wake is meatier and bigger. <BR> <BR>All in all I am very impressed with the wake now that the new prop is on.. I never knew that a prop could make such a difference. <BR> <BR>FYI - now the surf wake is gigantic!

22parksm 09-12-2007 1:28 PM

OK thanx, <BR> <BR>I have a 2003 X-2. I like the wake. I also desgned the prop for that boat with a guy that repairs props so now the wake i perfect. <BR> <BR>Beginning of october I will have a 2007 X-2 but I don't want to make a lot of time changing prop and shapes so I think Ijust going to order that one. <BR> <BR>Thanx

aarond0083 09-13-2007 8:49 AM

Josh thanks for th info, Not to high jack the thread but I run around 1050 lbs extra in my 07 210. Combined with stock that is pretty close to the same amount of weight you run in your X2 since the stock on the X2 is less than the CC stock. When loaded down my boat takes awhile to plane with the Stock Team ACME 645. <BR> <BR>I put a small knick in my prop this weekend due to low water levels at the ramp. Even more reason to upgrade. I'll be calling ACME this afternoon. The wake on my 210 with 2,000 lbs. is already awesome. Can't wait to see what the prop change does.

trojanman 09-13-2007 10:56 AM

Aaron - I cant say for sure, but if the results for you are anything along the same lines as what I have experienced you should be more than pleasantly surprised. It completely changed the way my 06 X2 rides in the water... and the wake has only gotten better! <BR> <BR>I highly recommend this prop to anyone with an X2 06 or newer... it completely took care of any problem the boat had from planning with a lot of extra weight!
