I have a 98 VLX Sunsetter and purchased a Titan II tower. I think the front mounting blocks are going to be right up next to a cup holder and a pop up cleat. How far away should a new hole be from an existing for the tower mount. I am afraid that the boat will crack if the holes are too close. I think I might have to get another tower. Oh $%&*!!!!!!

(Message edited by thornman on April 02, 2003)

(Message edited by thornman on April 02, 2003)

Naw, It'll be allright. Have you put the tower together and set it on the boat to see where it's going to sit yet?

I just went thru this with my LSV, there is "wiggle room" with the front feet to get them right where you want them. What I did was figure out where to put the rear feet, attached them, attached the rear hoop, hooked the wishbone to the rear hoop, then set the wishbone down up front and wiggled it around til I found the best spot. Also take into consideration what is under the fiberglass...try to find a flat spot for the baseplate to rest against. I had to shave down a hump to get my starboard base plate to sit flat.

Don,

For the front mounts all the stress is pulling UP when riding so what's underneath is more important. If you can add a piece of wood as large as possible and glass it in underneath you would get much more strenght and it may work fine.

Can you move the tower forward or back a little to get away from those?

How far apart are the holes and can you post some pic's from top and underneath so we can see what your looking at?

Bill
www.MonsterTower.com
