10" Sub placement - infinite baffle
 

So after ordering a 10" sub, I remembered that our boat is a 15 footer meaning space is at a premium. Assuming an on board box is not an option, does anyone have thoughts on mounting it "infinite baffle" style (sealed but no box and no back wave canceling front wave) in the hole that traditionally stores the anchor?

It will be o.k. as long as it is an infinate baffle sub.

In our old I/O we built the sub boxes into the bases of the back seats. You might be able to do the same. We used two bandpass 10's and it pounded.

I still think we get to claim one of the first stereos on the water with that one. it was back in 1990. People used to look at us sideways as we rolled into the dock with beats going. But I digress......

Whats the wall like under the helm?

I use infinite-baffles often with nice results. I like both the Kicker Comp Vr and the Wet Sounds XS-10FA. Give both at least 400 watts rms.

Thanks for the feedback y'all. The helm is treated ACQ 3/4" ply with marine carpet but I've thought the sub would look better in the hardly used hatch up front. While in that picture there is plenty of room for fat sacs, I think the coast guard limits our vessel to around 700 lbs. Plus we've since reinstalled 2 sets of those back to back seats. On an unrelated note, the floor/frame felt soft at the end of last year with everything shifting upon encountering chop so this off season we rebuilt some stringers, glassed 'em, put new plywood down, and then drilled 1" holes in the plywood into which we poured expanding closed cell foam (4lb density)...yeah, its like a rock now (a floating rock) and with the addition of the sub it will hopefully rock.
