hiring a care giver

My dad is recovering from a stroke so we are hiring a care giver.

Its all good minus becoming an "employer" -- taking out taxes, paying social security and dealing with the IRS every quarter. I have never done any of this stuff and I am sure it will be torture.

Anyone been through this? Got some advice?

Its a long road and will take lots of patience. My grandmother had one for a few years before whe was put into a retirement community. Dealing with th gov't is always a headache. But once its done should go smoothly. Prepare for hours on the phone. Good luck and i hope his recovery is speedy
