No this isnt really a thread about boat speed, but it is about a spreadsheet that popped up while doing my Statistics for economics homework. surprised to see this kind of info so I thought I would share....

Can get across the lake pretty damn fast in some of those... I think my supra can hit about 45 however, I've never tested that out. I'm pretty much stuck at 11mph, and thats fine by me

The X-star with a 8.1 does 50+ with the right prop. It's pretty fast for a wake boat.

These boats are amazingly inefficient, though. 300+ HP and all they can muster is 40-ish MPH. Ha, ha, ha.

As long as they throw a wicked wake, though.... I couldn't care less if my boat breaks 27.
Our donzi propped right will hit 73 with a 350 in it. But thats a death wish with a 16 foot boat.
Surprised how? That a Gekko can top out at 52? Seems like Sanger has some boats that get to 50+ mph too.
Ha, My brother Bennington w/ a 250 and 4 peeps will run 41......24 footer too....
My surprise was that this spreadsheet popped up from the CD that came with the book, not the boat speed.
we could get about 47 in our 210, those numbers seem pretty dead nuts on.... but then the new prop, now the top speed is 34~
I used to have a 2001 Sanger DXII Barefooter with a 377 Scorpion, 377hp, 377ci, it would run 54. But only 52 or 53 with 5 in the boat towing a 250lb barefooter.

put weight in the Gekko's and speed drops way off.
Twitch, sounds fun...
Its crazy fun, no wind shield or anything. The x-star will do 52 or somethin which is around what our donzi tops out at, we had it de-propped so it tops at 55 but it feels sooooo much faster in the donzi than the x-star, it isnt even thrilling in the x to go above 30.
Kevin, What altitude did they test the speeds? altitude will make a big difference.
my buddy has a 35' baja with twin 700's that runs right at 100 alittle over. its sick if you have 300,000+! although a bit hard to wakeboard behind if you ask me!
My 292 with twin 350s will hit about 62mph. Its fun.
Kevin,

That is random to see that in a statistics book. I would expect to see "Boat Company A", "Boat Company B", or some other BS study with made up stuff. It is interesting to see them use a real world comparison with actual models, especially the wakeeboat industry which is extremely small in comparison to many other industries. Must have been a wakeboarder authoring that section! I know I would inject my own interests into an otherwise boring book!

Danny

EDIT: meant stats book, not econ

(Message edited by wakerider42 on December 12, 2008)

We also have a blackhawk 22 classic with a 502 Still in the shop gettin some drive work hopefully we will be able to run it this winter. Supposably hits around 80.

I actually learned how to wakeboard behind our x-18 and rode behind it up until a year and a half ago when we got out x-star.
Twitch.... Which Donzi have you got? A sweet 16? My brother has a 1969 18 2+2. It was repowered with a 350 from a 1996 and a Bravo One. It's crazy fast. No speedo on the boat, but it runs from jetski's that'll do 65+. We had it at Shasta last year during our houseboat trip and it burned through more gas than our wakeboats because it was so much fun to run flat out all week. The coolest part was passing people in wakeboats in the middle of the day out in the open bays. They'd be getting beat on at 25mph. We'd go by at 60+ just cruising over the top of the waves. It's amazing how well they do in rough water.

Plus there's nothing like the look on peoples faces when you take them for their first ride in that boat. It's like a bath tub that absolutely hauls ass. No windshields, just fast.

(Message edited by guido on December 12, 2008)

Yeah don't buy a wakeboat if you expect speed. They call them "towboats" for a reason heh.
Correct Craft made a ski nautique with the python 502 which made 435hp and 510 ft/lbs of torque. Anyone know what that boat would do?
Evan, we have a Black hawk 22 classic and that was a typo I meant 18ft, its an x-18 w/ a 350. Sweet sixteens are sick man Ive only seen one on lake wa and it was pretty dam cool, its so tiny and nimble. We bring our x-star and x-18 to chelan every year, next year the classic will come too, and its probably the coolest thing to hear when you walk out at 9 in the morning and see/hear it coming around the corner into the bay. And Nothing beats cruisin on glass trimmed out haulin a$$. Taking it off ferry waves is an absolute blastttt, we've gotten the prob 3 or 4 feet outta the water before. its insane!
