i have a 2006 X-1 mastercraft and there is a pretty good gelcoat crack about 18'' long by the x-1 symbol should this be warranty?
or am i screwed. I never hit anything but noticed it after winter time this year.

Should be covered. Mastercraft and Nautique have lifetime warranties on their hulls. Post some pics and call your dealer.

(Message edited by hayes on July 12, 2009)

so does moomba for that matter

Hull warranty is only on the hull, not the gelcoat.

(Message edited by spherren on July 12, 2009)

^^^ What he said. Structural only not cosmetic.
gel coat is considered cosmetic and is usually covered for one year only.

Doubt its covered but you need to have it checked to make sure its just a gel crack.Hard to tell without seeing it.BUT you want it fixed so it does not grow/turn into something worse.post a pic of it if you can.Do you have any idea how it got there?Did you hit a dock?Do you remember any really hard hits to a double up or anything like that?

Probably not covered sadly. My three year old malibu has a crack by the tower they fixed once before and now its back and they refuse to fix it because they already fixed it once before, also have spider webbing under the swim deck which they say aren't covered because like you guys said its cosmetic! Guess I have to wait tell it breaks open and becomes structural! lol

my mastercraft had "Cosmetic" Gel Coat Cracks in it, so copes (R.I.P) was able to get it covered. it also came back a year later...fixed it again for free...it probably wasnt taken down enough before they put the new gel on top of it...Moral of the story, i would tell them to do it right the first time!

my buddies nautique was covered under hull for gel coat cracks and were repaired 3 years later
