I am just getting started with some video that is on my sony HDD camcorder. Looking for something easy to resize, accepts most file types, easy to edit and burn. <BR>Free would be nice but cheap would be Ok too. <BR>I have already done a search without any luck. <BR>Thanks for the input.

Windows movie maker sucks. Or maybe I'm an idiot. <BR>It won't import my video file. I have it set to automatically retrieve the codec necessary and the file plays fine in windows media player. WMM will also play an avi file just fine but apparently not a MPG from a sony cam.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/angry.gif" border=0>

Do a search for "avid free dv". It is not a supported program or offered by avid any more but you can still find it online for free. It is a pro program cut down to the bare minimum and it is free. It has a some what tough learning curve but there is a lot of help online.

iMovie captures AVCHD footage to the Apple Intermediate codec which makes it pretty easy to edit I hear. With Final Cut Pro you can import to the ProRes422 codec as well which is a more robust then the AIC. There is no native support for the AVCHD codec yet in quicktime, that will probably end when Panasonic brings out that new HPC150 pro camera later this year.
