JL M6450 or Kicker 07MX700.5 or other?
I know these are older models but it looks like I can get either one for $285 shipped which is a lot cheaper than the current offerings.
Kicker is a 5 channel rated at 85x4 + 420 watts for the sub JL is a 6 channel so I'd effectively get 75x4 + 150 to the sub Not looking for anything too serious. Just want to power 8 Polk DB651s and a 10" Image Dynamics subwoofer that I already have. I'd be running the 4 DB 651s off of the "Front" channels @ 2 ohms per channel and the same for the 4 651s on the tower. The sub is a DVC 2 ohm that I'd wire in series for a 4 ohm load. Obviously the Kicker is rated higher but I was wondering if the JL would be better despite the numbers on paper. Although from what I've heard Kickers are conservatively rated too. Is there anything else I should be looking at in the sub $300 range for a 5-6 ch? I will actually be stretching the budget already with these $285 options. This MB Quart is pretty tempting at $170: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...t-NAU-660.html I know it wouldn't begin compare to the Kicker or JL but may still get the job done since I don't really crank it that loud anyway. Thanks, Jeff |
FWIW I just removed a Kicker 700.5 out of my boat I would be willing to sell you. It works just fine. I'm just rebuilding my system with separate amps. Let me know if you want it. $100 plus shipping. I also have a Kicker 350.4 that came in my boat originally I want to get rid of.

Yes, I'd likely be interested if it's in working order. PM sent.
Thanks, Jeff |
I have a 700.5 in my boat and it works pretty good. It came in there from the factory and powers (6) 6.5's and (1) CVR 10" in a ported box and sounds pretty good! It's not going to win any bass contests but it hits pretty solid for 400 watts. I will either upgrade to the IX1000.5 this spring or get a new boat...LOL.

Check out the ARC XDi805... A few more dollars but Class D so no heat issues and it's super small. 80X4 (120X4 at 2 ohms) and 400X1 with bass knob.

How would the Infinity Kappa Five be for a marine application: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...APPA-FIVE.html Not quite as small and powerful but still class D. |
