Does anybody know of any lakes in california where you can rent a v drive? Thinking of a vacation out there but it would be too costly to tow my boat all the way from ohio. I am not sure exactly where in california I am looking to go yet.... probably central southern region.

I am pretty sure New Melones rents V-drives. Have you checked out the web sites of lakes in the area you want to go to? When are you going?

My kids went on vacation with another family to Bass Lake near Oakhurst (Fresno). They rented a Centurion there for the week.

ottog1979 03-08-2009 8:33 PM

They may be direct drives, however.
http://www.basslakeboatrentals.com/skiboats_main.html

From what I heard, the lake is crowed on weekends. Not a place to go for butter.

Bass Lake is cold and small and choppy and crowded most of the time. Here is a link that might help you.

http://www.invertsports.com/

You don't want to go to Bass Lake like SoCal MOB said.

I mean come on, the real housewives of orange county vacation there, it can't be good for riding.

Shasta had a malibu at silverthorn a few years ago. Was kinda costly and no balast. I guess they don't want you to sink the boat.

You can rent a Wakecraft at Bullards but it is not cheap; http://bullardsbar.com/luxury_houseboats.cfm?houseboat=smallboats

lfrider92 03-09-2009 7:47 AM

berryessa rents them out

noel_peterson 03-09-2009 8:17 AM

The Centurion dealer near Manteca is renting boats now I believe. They are a nine iron from the Dirty D.

stephan 03-09-2009 9:07 AM

Why don't you put together a camping or houseboat trip and invite some locals that want to bring a boat? I'm sure there are those that are willing.

guido 03-09-2009 10:24 AM

Yup... what Stephan said. Plan a Houseboat trip and throw in a couple guys for free if they bring along their boat. It'll be cheaper for you guys than renting and you'll get to meet a few new people.

pnichols 03-09-2009 4:50 PM

Also check craigslist....there was a thread a while ago about people renting their personal boats.

wakeboardertj 03-09-2009 6:33 PM

Carson, its a vdrive with a look alike tower, i believe

cwbtanner 03-30-2009 4:45 PM

Bass Lake is awesome, especially in spring & fall. The lake will be lower this summer, but still 89% full - plenty of water to ride. Miller's Landing is a great place to stay & rent Tige Wakeboarding boats.

spin2win 03-30-2009 4:50 PM

tanner is the lake as full as its going to get this year?
