Any ideas that you can do to help stay safe in this sport (other than the obvious, USCG vest and helmet when hitting sliders...) My wife is getting into wakeskating and wants to know what to do to help her keep going for longer. Mouthguards help at all? Ear plugs? Also any techniques to help at all?

Build your endurance by doing cardio and staying in shape. that will make you go longer at anything, period.

I dont think there is anything you can do to "stay safe" especially wakeskating. You can do a few things to help wear a helment i know peeps that wear mouth pieces but the truth is you can get hurt at anytime doing the simplest things on a skate.

Like cosmo said, cardio is great. Also, light to moderate weight training won't hurt. Work your legs too, especially the knees. And don't try anything stupid, like a trick way beyond your capability.

Like Kyle said too, if it is your time to get hurt, you'll get hurt no matter what preparations you've done. Seems like I hear of many more wakeboarders getting hurt than wakeskaters.

Just have fun & don't worry about the injuries.

dtw, i think thats because there are so many more boarders. You can chalk me up for a broken femur on a skate.
