Heading out to BV September 4th through the 7th. Anyone going to be out there at that time?

andy_nintzel 08-21-2008 3:47 PM

Man I miss riding on the Lake! A bit shallow but so fun!

dakid 08-21-2008 4:02 PM

i'm sure a bunch of jet skiers will be there.

misfits1981 08-21-2008 4:10 PM

Yeah, the jet skiers are always there! I camp and ride on the other side just to avoid them.

bbr 08-21-2008 5:29 PM

Nintzel, anytime your back here, you wouldn't have to roll there anymore....we got the hookup!

Joe, when you coming through town? I thought that you were heading up north?

ridinonair 08-21-2008 5:41 PM

Oh there will be tons of jet skiers, retarted ones too, make sure you wake up early to get on the water first if you plan on riding saturday or sunday bro....like 6am.

aces6692 08-21-2008 8:43 PM

kris im goin up with some buddies in october u and brandon and them should roll up, we'll make it a huge party, i was just up there a few weeks ago

mx118 08-22-2008 5:30 AM

Do they not pin up the Jet Skiers any more?

ridinonair 08-22-2008 7:46 AM

Only on the weekends because that is when the Rangers are there, during the week if there is anyone there, no one really gets popped- retarded crap especially with all the kids that play in the water on the shoreline, and how many injuries and deaths that have happened on all the other lakes so far this year.

What's BV like (depth, camping, does it get busy, etc)? Looks big enough. Is there shore camping? We always go up to San Antonio, but BV would be much closer.

Thanks for any info. I tried Googling it, but it wasn't very easy finding specific info.

ridinonair 08-22-2008 10:10 AM

Its not a deep lake at all, I dont know specifics but I remember the depth display on my bud's boat saying depths between 5-10 ft, but that is just when I looked at it. There is shore camping, and it can get busy on the weekends as well, so you might have to get up early like 6 am to get good water.

mike3500 08-22-2008 3:53 PM

Thanks Mitch. I'll have to check it out this winter. They said the campsites are booked through Thanksgiving. Are all the campsites pretty much the same, or is there a "better" area to request?

peterslc 08-22-2008 4:33 PM

It seems the lake is mostly 5-6', with one stretch that is 8-12'(starting at end of camping peninsula). Camping is nice, gotta call 15 weeks in advance for summer weekends, at least for waterfront. We can only make it on the weekends, so up at 5:15, done by 9:30. In the summer, not much chance of good water after that. Can be tough to sleep at night, you never know who's camping next to you. I recommend ear plugs.

Oh yeah, almost got taken out by a jet skiier at the end of the 5mph zone. They're the best!

ridinonair 08-22-2008 8:32 PM

No prob, I normally go up with a homie, and they somehow always get waterfront without too much notice, but waterfront is preffered, there isn't a large caming area it is actually pretty condensed to one side of the lake, then there is a day camp. I wish you luck when you go though man.

westsidarider 08-22-2008 8:51 PM

beware of the local patrol. they are heavy on DUI busts. they took their focus off of harrassing campers and consntrate almost entirely on DUI. besides its a great place to camp and have a good time. campgrounds are excellent and they also have full bathrooms with hot showers. if there on a weekend i wouldnt plan on much good riding like others have said. its good for the first run before 8 am and on occassion you can get a good last set of the evening but thats it.

aces6692 08-22-2008 9:22 PM

Mike during the winter you will have nooo problem with it being busy, im up there a bunch during the winter and get perfect glass to myself and friends all day

depswa 08-25-2008 8:56 AM

Yo Brandon! I think Catrer and I may be rolling up to BV Sept 10th-11th...Take some vacation and come hang...poker, bbq, wakin'...what ya think?

bbr 08-25-2008 12:13 PM

Yeah man, I'm down. Let me know for sure and I'll get out there with you boys.

depswa 08-25-2008 1:24 PM

Cool Brotha!

mike3500 08-25-2008 4:28 PM

Cool, thanks Ryan. Sounds like my new winter camping spot.

bbr 08-26-2008 8:07 AM

Stay away from BV in the winter, the water starts to grow a skin eating bacteria around November.

DO NOT COME TO BV IN THE WINTER!!

aces6692 08-26-2008 10:25 PM

BBR you sure you just dont want that glassy water to yourself??

ridinonair 08-27-2008 7:07 AM

I'll vouch for BBR, its not worth the risk to go.

mike3500 08-27-2008 7:31 AM

Thanks for the advise BBR. See you there!
