Handle Pass KGB
 

Who here has landed a handle pass KGB? This is the trick I'm gonna focus on this summer but I need a little advice on starting the rotation. Does the invert start out more like a Mexican roll vs a traditional backroll? I'm thinking I'm gonna throw it like a Mexican Roll and see how it plays out since that will expose my back towards the boat which will make for an easier handle pass. Any thoughts?

yes a mexican style backroll is done for a kgb. Do you have consistent roll to blinds?

If you are looking to do a hand pass KGB I think it is easier to do a mexican style back roll while pulling the handle at the same time. Once you have passed the handle you need to give a second little tug on the handle to get the last 180 degrees of your rotation. If you forget the second pull it will always end up an early roll to blind. Let me know if you have any more questions.

nice, I'll give it a try. I gotta be sure to bring the Flip out too so I can post the early attempts vs later attemps (and hopefully stick it). I may end up sticking a roll 2 blind accidentally if I don't get that last 180 down. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Its gonna be a few weeks before I make it out, my weekends are booked the next few weeks (on call this weekend and bachelor party next weekend). Derek Cook emailed me today too and wants to go attempt them with me too so if that happens anyone wanna place bets on who sticks it first...uh yeah.

I don't mean to thread jack but I didn't think my question deserved its own thread. Observation, why is it that mexican brolls look so much like a heel side front roll? Am I just not watching the right clip?

The argument is that there is "no such thing" as a heelside front roll. It's the same damn rotation IMO and is a completely different trick than a backroll.

Anyway... To you guys that do handle pass KGBs: Did you learn them wrapped first or just progress directly from heelside R2B?

I just got them dialed on the trampoline, so I'll be trying them this summer. The second half of the spin feels like a Mobey Dick with the handle pull across the chest. I know a few people who say that the KGB is easier than the R2B.
