Anyone running the oj 5 blade prop? If so what are your thoughts on it.

I'm interested to, wonder how it does for surfing?

I had one tested at my lake. It did not perform any better than the 4-blade models. Save your money.

have the 5 blade and i wouldn't say it really outperforms any prop, it pulls the boat out the same as the oj fusion I have. . . it may be a tad bit better, but the thing is it will lower your rpms when your boat is slammed. I think I lowered mine like 600 rpms or something insane. . . it may not be 600 but it was a dramatic drop to what it was. I would go with it just because you're not running as high as rpms as you would with the other props. Just my opinion though.

Lowering the rpms by 500+ would be considered a good outperforming characteristic in my opinion. It seems to have done well for the Axis owners with the 335 motor, especially when loaded heavy. I've seen a video of an Axis (by someone i trust) that was very heavy and it did very well to get on plane and up to speed. It's also lowered the rpms by 600 or more in the Axis. I've heard that it's a little quieter if compared to the Acme 1235 due to the smaller diameter.

I'll write and post actual data, later. The 5-blade, by the numbers, did not improve performance on the MasterCraft boats we tested. A 15" diameter 4-blade, did make an improvement in the measurements and in the "feel" of the boat in the 9-25 mph range. The extra blade did have an impact on fuel economy - negatively. The extra blade is extra drag and consumes horsepower. Great idea and experiment, though.
