are there different types of "Anchor in a box"? do they all come in card board boxes? Thanks for the help.
What?
The last one I got, the box fell apart as soon as I tossed it in the water, damn thing sunk too!

J/k, are you talking about a "Box Anchor"?
are you talking about a box anchor? If so there all the same idea just differant sizes depending on your boat

Damn $120 for an anchor or $350 for stainless good lord! Thank you garage sale anchor even if you don't work on rocky riverbed.
"Uses 1/2 the rope of a conventional anchor & no lead chain".

Gotta like that.
I have a plastic covered (easy on the boat interior) anchor that weighs about 10 pounds with one of those bungie wrapped in nylon material ropes attached to it. Because it stretches it holds the boat really well, even in the wind.
yea.... 119.00 is a bit too much man.... i could make and sell that thing for 50-60 bucks.

H2O Pro
$120 is for the pwc 'baby' anchor....try $150 for 18'+

next time you need one check dive shops, they go out and retrieve lost anchors and sell them pretty cheap.
Ha! Excellent Grant!
I've used other anchors but my box anchor pays for itself just in the labor from not having to reset it constantly. I'm not going back to any of the others.
I have to admit... I had a hard time paying for that box anchor too, but now I love it. No chain and sets the first time every time. Even in soft sand it will hold a long chain of boats...
Box anchor is the only way to go. The thing will hold through a damn hurricane. $150 or whatever is chump change in the grand scheme of boat owning. I just sacked up and bought one a couple years ago. It's worth it to not have to worry about moving, especially in a river or soft bottom area with some wind. And also takes zero patience or skill to "set". You just throw it in and you are done.

Danny

Is it patented?
P.S. LOVE the title of this thread!!
yeah.... def reminds me of SNL. I read on the website... it's patented... Doesn't mean you cant build one for your own use! or does it?
I picked a large and an XL off craigslist for $80 total. I lucked out.
Ebay has them a little cheaper.
Those things are awesome! They hold first time, everytime, everywhere.
I've heard good things about the richter anchor, something like that, they're half the cost. Anyone have experience with them, if so...your thoughts?
i wonder what the length and width is of the baby one.....when it's open
The box anchor Rocks!
I think the baby is 12"x12" open
box anchor well worth the $$ for us, now no worries of boat floating away like you get with a cheap mushroom. Plus this thing takes very little storage since it folds flatter and wont roll around.

BTW the onshore stake they have works very well also, it allows our boat to stay out in the water without beaching it...
The other beauty besides it's holding power is that it folds up and stores away like a champion. I think it's a must have for boating.
Speaking on anchoring...... I just found the "anchor dragging" alarm on my Garmin GPS.
Pretty slick.
It does seem convenient...
