Dock silt help

I live in a bay that was never used before I moved in. I have a floating pier with 35' poles, but if you didn't know better, you would think it was only 1' deep. I've been raking the weeds so I can get in and out, and it seems to help, but not very much.

I've heard of using deicers to push some of the silt out. Do these really work? The cheapest I can find is $500-$600 range. I could justify it if it was worth it. Are there cheaper options that work?

I've also seen a weed tiller on weedersdigest that's supposed to help. I could build one of these and pull it behind my pontoon.

I guess I'm looking for some real advise from people not looking to sell me something.

What works? What would you recommend?
Thanks, Joe

Rent a trash pump that is used for pumping out water from excavations etc.You can use the discharge end to blow the silt away from the areas you want to make deeper. Or even a portable fire water pump as it will have a higher discharge pressure.

Just don't let the EPA know what you're doing!

+1

Tie up the barge and leave it in gear and use the prop to push the silt out? My friends dad used to have this company that would come and suck out his dock area. They'd bag it and farmers would take the soil away.
