My front bag is leaking pretty bad. I repaired it once but the leak is back. It's leaking on the bag side around the fitting. It seems impossible to repair as you have to tear in to the bag to re-seal it from the inside. I put a bead of silicone around the outside last time. It held for about a month. Anyone have an ideas? I called Fly High to ask them, they said ship it back to us and we'll have a look and see what we can do.

have you tried PVC cement? I sealed all of my fittings with it, and no leaks
|
Nope haevn't tried that yet. I guess it's worth a shot. I used that on my rear bags b/c the fittings themselves were leaking ( I used it on the threads to lock them together). This has nothing to do with the threads, its outside of the fitting. The bag fittign has some sort fo nylon flap that is sealed to the inside of the bag, this is what is leaking. I'll try the cement.

Why not ship it back and see, not only if they can repair it, but there is a good chance they might just replace it.
Edit: or offer you a deep discount on a replacement.

(Message edited by Peter_C on August 21, 2006)

I don't think PVC cement will work outside the fitting. It actually melts the fittings together. I misunderstood your 1st post, and I think it'll make it worse it you try the cement.

PVC Cement is what is needed to repair it. Get some PVC fabric from an awning vendor for reinforcement. The material is from inflatable boats, so that kit will work as well.
