Amplifier problems

I have a 400watt multi channel amp. it pushes 6 speakers. went to go clean up boat and turn music on and nothing is working. I changed the fused on the amp and the amp kit line to make sure that wasn't the problem, but still nothing.

Is the amp dead. It's not a marine amp, but it's never been wet. it is really old too. about 7 years or so.

do they go out? Is there anyway to test anything else?

Also, can i buy a new amp and assume the kit already installed isn't the problem, so it should work?

thanks for the help.

Is the remote wire connected to turn the amp on ? Have you tested to make sure you are getting enough power to the amp (are your batteries dead? )Also is your ground wire good and connected ? If you have a multimeter these checks should be pretty easy, good luck !

Ditto what moto said as your first checks. I will say that I had a non marine amp in my boat for about 5 or 6 years. Even though it may not get wet directly, any mosture from the carpet, being under tight cover, etc will eventually cause some rust issues on the inside of the amp. That happened to mine and it finally died.
