come on, lets hear it people.

toby

jonb 12-28-2006 4:23 PM

Because it is fun. I havent found anything that can compare to being at the lake all day w/a bunch of friends.

njskier 12-28-2006 4:49 PM

I was a die-hard slalom skier, but without a course and flat water it got a little boring. Only so much you can do on a slalom ski.

Enter wakeboarding.......no longer is it crowded on the boat (thanks to v-drives) for lots of friends to come along. Always fun watching each other ride, trying that next new trick. Smooth water is still the best, however if it gets rough there's always wake surfing or just rafting-up in a cove somewhere.

Road trips are fun, too. Take all your friends along and try that new lake or waterway. Take some great pics (ride a tube on a short line while someone boards, great action shots!)

Pretty much no limit to the fun you can have wakeboarding. (don't forget wakeskating also)

nils_lars 12-28-2006 6:17 PM

Ill second that , fun with friends cant be beat

kylielogan 12-28-2006 6:20 PM

b/c i can't waterski. nah, j/k. it's b/c it doesn't snow here in the summertime. i swear i have adult A.D.D. ... always gotta be doing something.

tylerc 12-28-2006 6:33 PM

Because my ass looks great in boardshorts

chqwakeboarder 12-28-2006 7:39 PM

B/c there is no feeling in the world comprable to launching of a crisp wake and touching down on glass in the dead of morning.

wakereviews 12-28-2006 7:52 PM

because wakeboarders get all the chicks

firedawg 12-29-2006 12:08 AM

Why do i wakeboard? Hmm, There's nothing like being out on the water with family and friends spending a sun-soaked day laughing and having fun. A very close second is hitting the wake, making the perfect launch, legs extended, getting the desired pop, flying out into the flats and hitting the water with the softest of landings. Re-grip the handle only to do it all over again. Meeting new friends here on WW and out on the water is another... Happy New Years to all WW viewers... Thanks Dave for a great site, we all appreciate your hard work and dedication to the sport.

wakeworld 12-29-2006 12:32 AM

When people ask me what's so great about wakeboarding, I always tell them it's because even if you take the wakeboarding out of wakeboarding, you're still left with a day on the water in the sun with great friends. What other sport out there allows you to toss out the main component and still have a blast?

westsiderippa 12-29-2006 1:09 AM

why do i wakeboard? well do i even really like it? lets see... i ride in the delta once a week in the dead of winter until i cant even start the boat my hands are so cold. oh ya i would rather make my boat payment then my moregage. i spend countless dollars on gas. havent even sold my 06 v215 and already dreaming up my order for an 07 23lsv. my chick and her friends in my boat half naked. all the boyz sippin cold bud. perfect glass. sticking a clean backside 360 indy. the smile on my face every time i wipe down my boat after a session. seeing whos stereo is loudest. going to the boat shows. reading mags. and my favorite of all wasting countless hours of my life on wakeworld because im afraid i might miss the next heated topic. and you know what, i wouldnt trade it for anything in the world. so i guess i do like wakeboarding. happy new year WW much love from S.C.

dudeman 12-29-2006 6:02 AM

Post of the week Tyler.

denverd1 12-29-2006 7:14 AM

In addition to all the reasons mentioned above, its my "release" from the world. Nothing but the relaxing sound of the board cruising on the water -- and a splash of horsepower -- as I consider my approach and what to do when i'm weightless. mmmm. winter sucks.

deuce 12-29-2006 7:21 AM

I like to wear speedos and wakeboarding gives me that opportunity.

denverd1 12-29-2006 7:27 AM

<bluuh> i just puked a little

byrd 12-29-2006 7:44 AM

All of the above, but also, Its much more...

The challenge of the sport, the feeling of landing that trick for the first time, the look on your friend's faces in the boat when you just did something stylish and/or big, the escape from the world around me, and last but not least, it makes this 37 year old body feel like a kid again....

kmcginty 12-29-2006 9:18 AM

because gas money is burning a hole in my pocket

srh00z 12-29-2006 9:19 AM

Because if I didn't wakeboard, it would make the 2-3 trips to wakeworld everyday kind of weird and unexplained. I am with Dave, even if you took the wakeboarding away, it would still be a great day on the water with friends. A good day on the water lets me clear my head.

big_ed_x2 12-29-2006 9:29 AM

Dave I agree but snowboarding could be fun if we only build a snowman.

kraig 12-29-2006 10:04 AM

Because I have to piss my money away somewhere!!

No, really it's because in this sport women wear less!!

stepintoliquid 12-29-2006 10:35 AM

Im with Ian, its for the chicks!!

Nothin is better than a day out on the water with friends and family.

poon 12-29-2006 12:45 PM

I don't really wakeboard much anymore, but when I was riding a lot, it was for fun.

eustace 12-29-2006 1:58 PM

Yeah it’s the lifestyle thing

dcranium 12-29-2006 6:35 PM

Because single/slalom skiing was too damn tiring for an old geezer like me! I can ride for about 10X longer than skiing. And no matter what, being out on the boat beats the heck out of the time I used to spend on the golf course. (friends/family like boarding more than golf.)

wakechic06 12-29-2006 8:59 PM

Why NOT wakeboard is the question

woundedknee 12-29-2006 11:04 PM

I tried it, got hooked, now I just can't stop.
And I definitely agree with Byrd too.

peterc4 12-30-2006 1:46 PM

Becuase my wife and kids won't let me sell the boat so I may as well do it.

malibuboarder75 12-30-2006 3:48 PM

Its one of the few sports where everyone can enjoy it too. You can't bring family and friends to a skatepark or MX park and expect them to enjoy it as much as you. Snowboarding comes close, but everyone is seperated from each other.

duffy 12-31-2006 7:48 AM

Because the voices in my head tell me to....

bucnoles 12-31-2006 9:13 AM

So I can hang out with The Sarge.

lizrd 12-31-2006 3:47 PM

I wakeboard for the guys.

midwesty 12-31-2006 4:38 PM

Ten Hut!

andy_nintzel 01-01-2007 4:18 PM

Just feeling The Pull of the Boat! And buttering the wake!

hal2814 01-02-2007 7:41 AM

It's a good workout that's actually fun. The only other sport I enjoy this much that gives me a good workout is racquetball but that requires a proper court and a similarly skilled opponent. It's something non-participants enjoy and the boat requirement makes it easy to do other things while out there (fish, ski, just enjoy the lake, or even tube ).

woohoo 01-02-2007 9:54 AM

Why do I wakeboard? I do it because it's the best release from stress of normal life. Your with friends and family, and you can go out there and just not worry about anything besides that feeling of riding on perfect butter.

pottsy 01-02-2007 10:07 AM

because there is so much you can do with it. It never gets boring. Theres always something new you can do with it and it relaxes me.

fly135 01-02-2007 10:39 AM

It's the only exercise I want to do that will keep me fit.

dhands88 01-02-2007 2:22 PM

Cant beat boat full of girls and your there just to drink beer. I always gotta be the guy who has to go bigger than everone else, just how i role. oh yeah then you get the chickeees.

goatroper222000 01-02-2007 5:57 PM

because theres nothing like beating everyone else out on the water only too find your riding perfect water thats slick as glass and the feeling you get when you hit the wake and know it was perfect and you get the biggest air of your life and the feeling of landing that one trick that you've been workin on forever. theres also that look on spectators faces, you know, when you go really big and they give you that face like you just ran over their dog w/ a lawn mower. lol. Its just the best. Go Big or Go Home.

woreout 01-03-2007 11:39 AM

Cuz skiing aint cool no more.

epic1 01-03-2007 1:21 PM
