Hitting OWC tomorrow and planning on trying a few raleys. I know the basic principle of how to do it but any tips would be helpful. Thanks!

I FINALLY landed my first a few days ago. as soon as your carrier hits the turn cut toeside for a second then come back with a progressive but STRONG cut heelside. You will feel the tension. Keep ALL your weight on your back foot. When the line is loaded and all your weight is on your back foot make a hard flick with your front foot. You want to make a C with your front foot and you will be launched into your raley. When airborn look up at your carrier because if you look left or right you will go into an s bend type of spin. Pull your handle to your waist and land with your knees bent.

Most importantly DO NOT JUMP!!! this will cause you to go a foot out of the water and catch a NASTY toeside edge and keep in mind you are hauling butt! Learn from my mistakes!!

The falls are pretty brutal but when you finally land it is worth it.

If anybody would like to add on feel free. I just landed my first one today so this is what I did and worked perfectly.

GOOD LUCK AND DONT GIVE UP!!

That's way more confusing than it needed to be. Even out your weight a little bit, don't put it all on the back, unless you want to do stargazers all the time. The two biggest factors are the edge and the flick. When you edge, you want your body to be as straight as possible, not crouched like you are edging at the wake. Get your shoulders back and keep your hips up, with the handle in close to your hips. The flick is what releases you from the water, and your want to scoop your front foot downward, very quickly. Keep in mind you have to do the flick all at once, there is no half-assing it. If you delay, you will catch your edge before you even leave the water. I have no idea what the C shape thing tony mentioned is all about.

Once you get it, you'll never fall on one again.

The C thing is hooking the board away from the cable when you flick it. Which is what happens when you scoop your front foot downward. More like a J than a C since a C has two hooks.

I just started riding cable at Wake Nation and tried a couple of raleys but with no luck. I have a backroll dialed behind the boat so I thought I would try that and landed it the second attempt. So my addvice is to try the backroll if raleys are not working out for you.
