When i went to place an order they could have gotten me a 2013 spec boat but it wouldn't have arrived until recently. Currently we are right in the middle of winter so it wouldn't have been much good until spring.

I think it's an interesting thread to a) see different occupations of people in our hobby (example - I didn't know there was a career for locomotive load planners!) b) see the age of said people and c) The priorities of everyone (financially). There's nothing wrong with going out and getting a 15 year loan on a boat, it's just what your priorities are!

My Dad bought a 1988 Ski Nautique brand new in 1988. That is the boat I learned to wakeboard on in 98.

My Dad started letting me take the boat out on my own in 2001. I eventually bought it from him for $8k in 2009. (Which was probably more than it was worth but was a fair price to me considering all the hours I put on it.)

In 2011 I purchased a 2000 Super Air Nautiquefor $19,500 cash. A Super Air is the only material thing I've ever really wanted so I guess I'm set for life. :)

I am an attorney of 5 years and made low six figures for the first time last year. I have a good group of friends that love wakeboarding as much as myself and so we share maintenance costs. I have never owned a truck or tow vehicle but my friends do. They can take my boat when they please and I can use their trucks when I please. Their have been a few minor issues along the way with people feeling like others weren't pulling their weight but overall it has been great. I'm very blessed to have such great friends.

What's fun to think about was how I contemplated buying a sweet pair of $40 board shorts in 2001 and worried about how it would affect my budget and now owning the coolest thing I could (and still can) think of ten years later.

Hard work pays off.

I'm 21 and a Signalman for a contractor on the railroad. No mortgage (yet) currently looking. Sacrificed keeping an older truck for a newer boat. It's a 98 Z71. With my work schedule I'm gone 8 days then home for five. So, I'd really never drive a new truck since I'm on the water every day I'm home. Boat is a 2007 Wakesetter 23LSV. Almost put 90 hours on her already this year!

I'm a Canadian who had Chris Hansen (who I think is the current owner of the red 2001 in those pics) look at a sport nautique for me in Phoenix. We took a quick peek at your boat on the way out to Saguaro at the end of May. Congrats it's a beauty! Then I towed that Sport Nautique over 2000 miles all the way home. Enjoy that Super Air :D

I am 40 years old. I am a CPA and work as a Senior Accountant in a Govt Job (electric company) where I only have to work my 40 hours a week and have a generous amount of vacation. I've never been an entreprener, so I just "work to live". I'm married and have a 7 year old son. My child support is probably equivalant to a very nice car or boat payment, and I got divorced at the peak of the housing market and had to write a $50k check to my ex to keep my house. But life happens and my wife now is 1000x a better match for me and we're remarkably happy. The wife works as a Customer Service Rep at the same Utility as I do. She covers her truck/insurance/cell/groceries and I take care of the rest.

I have a 92 Supra Sunsport that I got for under $10k and have been modding. I have a modest 5 year $135 a month boat payment.

My Rain/Snow car is a 99 Audi A6 Avant. I picked it up cheap with 180k miles on it. I got a little $5k loan to get it but put the loan on the Jeep to get a better interest rate. We take it up to the mountain skiing and snowboarding every weekend all winter long. I also daily it because the M3 has 150k miles and I save the M3 for nice weather now.

I used to daily drive my 2000 Jeep TJ before I got all of the above. It's just turned 100k miles and even though I don't use it hardly at all, I don't have the heart to disappoint my 7 year old and get rid of it. It's totally built up for rock crawling and has a mod list a mile long.

Don't really have much of a savings to speak of. But have a nice retirement though work and we are living life our way and enjoying a wide variety of recreation. Had a friend that needed a place to stay, so we rent out a room in our house, and that happens to offset the child support.

Obviously, if I combined all my toys into one truck/boat combo, I could have something a lot nicer. But I waited 20 years to buy my first boat and am really having a blast (despite the tranny getting rebuilt right now) making memories with my family. I tend to buy older toys that look like they're worth a lot more than they are to make my dollar stretch.

^^never sell your jeep! They are timeless and in the summer evenings no top no doors it's what's up.

I was getting frustrated with all the toys having issues at once and the work it was taking to get ready for the 4x4 Jamboree that I just went on this past weekend. But hearing my 7 year old go, "Daddy, please don't sell the Jeep" melted my heart. We had a blast on the Jamboree and did some hardcore trails and the Jeep handled everything like a boss.
And moments like this in the shadow of Mt Ranier are pretty awesome.

I'm not sure how this turned into a random bragging session about everything that people possibly own? I will say each individual's career and spendable income matters a whole lot where you live and in my area housing averages 500k and up so people don't usually have those paid off at young ages.

I read an article in a trailer boat magazine last month that talked about boat buying, financing, etc. It stated that 92% of boat owners are over the age of 35. Apparently Wakeworld is a large part of the 8%...
