I'm looking into getting some of those.. about how much did they run you if you don't mind my asking?

bkoz 02-14-2008 3:05 PM

They came with my boat, but I think the guy told me they were around $1800? Problem is the guy had a crappy little Clarion amp hooked up to them and it kept shutting off, probley couldnt handle a 2 ohm load?? The speaker are really nice and seem to be well built.

goodwin 02-14-2008 3:12 PM

Hey, I am interested in those too, but afraid to find out what they cost. Killer looking speakers!

bkoz 02-14-2008 3:20 PM

I find it really funny that you can do a search on these speakers and not find a price anyware? Actually theres a guy that works for Roswell (or did) that posted on here about them and he wouldnt give a price either.

I see that they handle 70 Watts RMS each. You probably want to give them twice that roughly so you don't risk blowing them from an amp clipping.

Running in 2 Ohms poses a number of problems, which I can get into detail if you like. Frankly, it's a saftey issue as well as a current "starving" issue when you are running 15 feet of speaker wire or so through a grounded (presumably) tower. I would feel better (if it were my boat) either A)running them at 8 Ohms instead of 2 B)Running a separate channel to each speaker or C)run them at 2 ohms but make sure you have very thick speaker wire and very thick power wire for your amplifier, and make sure you grommet the heck out of your speaker wire entry to the tower.

If you choose option A look for a 200-300 WRMS 2 channel amplifier.

If you choose option B look for a 125-150 WRMS 4 channel amplifier.

If you choose option C look for an amp with at least a 75 amp fuse.

PM me if you want more info- I've spent a pretty good deal of my life with both home and car amplifiers and I understand why car audio equipment has a significantly lower impedance (short answer: 12V vs 115V).

As the owner of a competing tower speaker I give roswell serious props for those speakers- they look incredible! (and they better if the price is $1800- or even $800!!!!!!!)

Brown, there is a small boat dealer in Manson that sells roswell products. Their a Larson dealer so maybe you can locate them on Larson's website and give them a call. I've bought some stuff from them and took a look at the speakers and board holders, really nice stuff.

Actually here is the link http://www.reedsmarine.org/

Look into an alpine PDX 2.150 they don't get hot, work well with lower volts and remain the same watts at 2 and 4 ohm loads all while requiring very little space. They can be had on Ebay new for around $200.

I just bought a Roswell Tower, I called the number on their website, got a call from their rep (Marc) the next day. He gave me a list of local dealers. I found the one closest to me and hammered out a deal.

goodwin 02-15-2008 11:25 AM

Thanks Jeremy, I contacted the rep (Marc) last summer and he mentioned Checkered Flag Marine up in Mount Vernon is a dealer in WA.
I have not stopped in to see the 2008 line, maybe after i get my tax return

I don't quite get their business plan. Let's keep it a huge secret as to the price of our product's and then make it nearly impossible to buy. Whoever heard about selling on the internet anyway it's probably not gonna work out.

bkoz 02-16-2008 7:44 AM

Hate I couldnt agree more, im not sure why its so top secret. The speakers come with just one set of jacks per set so they have to be run at 2 ohms. I hooked up an amp to them yesterday and with 125 watts per side they sounded pretty good but I think they need more power. If anyones interested in these speakers I will say they're put together really well and the spin function on them is way cool.

bkoz 02-18-2008 5:30 PM

Has anyone found a price on these? Id be currious to know what they're worth as I may sell the ones I have.

roswell_wakeair 02-19-2008 1:09 PM

Hate and Byron- I can understand your frustration with your inability to find pricing on the internet but I would like to take this opportunity to shed some light on our position.

We have made an active decision to work through our dealer base and support actual retail locations where our customers can go in and be serviced face to face. Over the past ten years in business we have forged some strong relationships with many dealers throughout North America and intend on supporting them for their business throughout the years. We feel that interaction with a dealer increases the level of service, can help to moderate any warranty issues, and supports our great industry. Working with many independent and family owned dealerships we find it important to give them the opportunity to sell you not only the Roswell product but also their own service. We have always been available through e-mail, our website and on the phone to put you in touch with a local dealer and remain committed to this practice going forward. While we recognize the advantages of retailing through the internet we have chosen at this time to support those who have supported us.

I would love the opportunity to put either of you in touch with your own local Roswell dealer and am available at 780-490-7908 ext. 234 or marc@roswell wakeair.com and Byron please contact me directly if you have any further wiring questions.

Marc Poirier
Team Manager/OEM Communications
Roswell Wake Air
