I have a pair of Fusion tower speakers (Diamond Audio) that look like this:

I like the look of the enclosure, but I don't particularly care for the sound quality... No mid's! The speakers are 6.5" and 5.25"... I'm thinking I can swap them out with a better quality speaker instead of buying new tower speakers.

Has anyone ever done this before? Any tips or warnings?

I'm looking to replace them with these:
Alpine - Type R 6.5" 2-way coaxial
Alpine - Type S 5.25" 2-way coaxial

The small tweeters on my tower speakers don't work, and I'm not interested in replacing them. I guess they'll be there for looks only!

I would not switch to two ways, you'll be getting even worse sound(a two way can only receive one signal, which is usually a mix between high and mid). your best bet is to replace the tweeters first, then if you still feel the need, replace the mids with better speakers.
BTW, you have mid sound, what your lacking is high frequency sound, which will help balance out the sound

Chris,
You're right, I do have mid's... But when I turn up my tower speakers the sound quality isn't very good. The only way I've been able to clean it up is to lower the mids and lows with my WS-420.

Mike,
I'll look in to that, thanks! Hope all is well. If you're ever in the D/FW area give us a shout!

-Blake
