thinkin about givin up the stealth air chair for a new sky ski. i test rode it with Jake Kinnison and it was awesome. anyone else ridden both new models. air chair has more pop and i can get more heighth but sky ski is so smooth...Damn it felt good. so slow in comparison.

vs.
Sounds like a good idea to me.If you have the $ go the LEX if not the B39 then the standard 2 piece

goochy 04-12-2005 3:20 AM

I had a stealth , got a new 2004 2 piece billet and NO LOOKING BACK!!! it took alittle seat time, but now I go ALOT bigger and smoother on all my VERY small trick list . The sky ski is the best for the money 2 piece for under $2000.00 , get the Pro ST ( shock tower ) its one smooth ride.... I wanted the LEX , but did not have $4500.00 to spend, with boat , cabin close to lake , ropes, etc..... could not spend that kind of cash !! Learing backflip this year, I made it around a few times last year !! 2 years so far on a foil, and LOVE it !! Here is the 1 st day I got it !! now it has Cinch Products on it, Foot stays !!

im thinkin of getting the LEX. i test rode it at buena vista with one of the guys on tour and it was ridiculous. tryin to sell my other two air chairs to get some money. if anyone wants a chair i got two of them. the older model and the stealth.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7149011463&rd= 1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7149014420&rd= 1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Hey Ben. I just ordered myself a Pro ST and can't wait to get it. I know, the LEX is tempting but for the little you get for over twice the money just wasn't worth it for me (I have other things I'd rather blow money on) You can get the Pro ST anodized just like the LEX, so no more polishing! What a relief - it would take 3-4 hours to polish out my Air Chair Stealth. I rode an LEX "Batwing" down at the Texas Fly-In and it had lots of glitches (where foil gets air pockets stuck to it), but I hear they may have that fixed now. I guess if you have that much money, I have some magic beans you might be interested in

Brett from Pinter Marine is where I ordered my SS from. Call him up at 262-251-8240. Real nice guy to talk to.

Good luck getting your Buy It Now price for your Air Chairs. You can buy a brand-new stealth for less than that...

P.S. nice pics of the inverts...

(R.I.P. AC, hello SS!)

joesell 04-12-2005 7:35 PM

Jason, I'm glad Brett was able to hook you up. I hope you enjoy your new Ski. I was just at Pinter's house tonight to pick up my new LEX. I can't wait to ride it.

Ben, If you give Brett my name, He'll give you the same great deal he gave Jason.

Joe

04-12-2005 8:22 PM

Jason and Joe thanks for the tip i'm definitely going to follow up on that. i need a good deal on this chair and i want to get out on the water as soon as possible. what sux most about this sport is that you barely ever see other people out on the lake doing it. at least in so cal where i am. if i do see someone they cant do anything or they are pro. thats kinda cool but im always stuck in the middle. i still cant land the helicopter, and i can rotate the front flip but i havent gotten the rope tension to stay. needless to say the landings at 29mph off a front flip are not pretty. but i have never had so much fun getting hurt. pain goes away. thats the mindset you have to have in this sport. oh and Jason look at what this AC sold for
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7145328106&rd= 1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
that is why i put the buy it now price so high. so i thought i could get those same peole to buy mine. and i offered to teach them to ride too. cant get a much better offer than that. so i just dropped the buy it now prices to 750 and 900. hopefully that will get a responce. if you guys are anywhere near SoCal and wanna go out on my 04 wakesetter and see who can have the best fall (most painful) email me. thanks again for the # and ill keep checkin this site over the summer so we can compare inverts and falls. take it eazy guys.
-Ben

Joe says he doesn't make anything from the sale, but I'm beginning to wonder about that now

I know what you mean about nobody else out there on a foil!! I'm in northeastern Kansas, and I've only seen one dude at the dock with the old-style AC. About 7 years ago, I saw somebody jumping on one in Arkansas. That is two people... besides that Texas Fly-In I went to. It was surreal seeing everybody out behind a boat riding a foil. 29mph on a front flip attempt? I was mostly on Geof Kohler's boat at the fly-in and he was doing helicopters and front flips running 25mph on his trusty old Sky Ski Pro ST (billet). My Stealth doesn't have enough lift and the curved rear foil is unrideable. I had to go faster to get the same height. When you get your Sky Ski, I bet you will find you can run much slower and get much more air. There are some awesome videos on www.texashydrofoil.com . Geno told me that going 30mph is pretty damn fast even for him! I'll be riding 26mph this year.

That's cool what those are going for. Last year the non-stealth ACs were going for about $5-600 on ebay and the Stealths for around $750. There was a person on ebay selling brand new stealths for $850, but I haven't seen them for sale in a while. Air Chair didn't like it when I told them I could get it cheaper than from them, so I'm sure they are price-fixing. wakeside.com also had to "adjust" their price because I mentioned them also to Air Chair. As you can see, I have not had a good experience with AC... not good business practices and certainly not customer-oriented (at least to me). It seems you are "converting" like me

joesell 04-15-2005 8:17 PM

Jason, you got me, I make $2000 on every referal.
Actually, I just love the sport, Brett and Pinter are friends tring to promote it and make just enough to cover their expenses. I don't know to much about the business end. I only know they do the best they can.
Joe

04-15-2005 9:38 PM

i believed in you Joe...

joesell 04-17-2005 6:34 PM

Thanks Ben,
It feels good to be loved.

don_stark 04-25-2005 7:20 PM

Hey Joe
How come no report on the LEX? Ice has been out for a month up by me on Ocauchee. Ice went out on 4/4/05 first ride of the year was 4/09/05.My friend and I have about 4 hours a piece on a used sky ski I bought last fall its a blast.Iam going to buy a new two peice billet ski from Brett this week. If your ever up my way with Brett and Pinter look for a malibu vlx with a titan tower on the lake.

Later, Dan

joesell 04-26-2005 2:21 PM

Dan,
The LEX is awesome. It rides pretty much neutral, so theres plenty of room to shim some lift into it. Very smooth, no suck down yet, and nice landings. I don't know if it's the LEX or if I'm getting better, but I landed 4 360's on the first day I tried them. I didn't even get hurt at all. Although I can't say the same for Brett. He killed himself time after time. I didn't know there was anyone close that skied. If you ever want to come out and ride with us your welcome. We try to get out a few times a week, and finding a third this time of the year is sometimes challenging.
Joe

(Message edited by joesell on April 26, 2005)

don_stark 04-26-2005 6:50 PM

Joe
Sounds like a plan. Just give a shout when you need a third. Ill go as long it is not raining in the sring or ice floating in the lake. I think it was 38 deg air temp on saturday when we whent for a pull. You just need to double up on the trunks. he he he he he. I just learned to fly this thing last week so I am a beginner.

Later, Dan

joesell 04-27-2005 3:46 PM

Dan,
We're trying to get out tomarrow afternoon around 3:30. If your interested, call me @ 262-210-3552.
If you don't have a drysuit, I have an extra one you might be interested in. It doesn't have feet like the foil one's, so you can use it for boarding, and foiling.
I just started last year, so I know how you feel. The fastest way to learn is by riding with someone who's better. That's why I love riding with Brett, and Pinter.
Joe

landon 05-02-2005 6:42 PM

Brett and Pinter...you poor soul, stay away from that Brett guy he's a bad apple.LOL I ski with them a couple times a year. (TN and MI) I guess you could do worse. Really Brett can show you how to do about anything that can be done on a foil. I'm heading over that way to the first IL fly-in this year, should be a good time.

joesell 05-02-2005 8:03 PM

Keith, I'll see you there.
I landed another 3 on Sunday after about 12 attempts. I didn't have that much trouble on the first day I tried them. It wasn't snowing and sleeting on the first day either though.
I'll do some more next time and see how they go.
I love this LEX more every time I ride.
Joe

landon 05-03-2005 7:48 PM

Joe, congrats on the 3's I've been working on fronts or at least I was until the good weather went away. Thursday it wasn't snowing but we were below the 100 degree rule, still good to get out though. This weekend is looking nice suppose to be in the 70's.

This is my 3rd year on a LEX, you'll find after you get more used to it your learning curve will increase. You'll go higher with less effort...things just come easier.

joesell 05-05-2005 6:51 PM

Keith, Fronts are next on the list. I spent all last summer tring to land a wake roll. This summer I want to have at least 3 tricks in the works at all times.

totall_troy 05-18-2005 6:57 PM

Hey Keith,
Whats up bro?

I'm still working on fronts.I want a 3 to, Joe can you give lessons.I can't wait till TN.
joesell 05-18-2005 8:04 PM

Troy,
I talked Brett thru them. I would be happy to help you out as well.
I'm trying to get up the nerve for a front. I tried about 10 times today, but I couldn't make my arms pull the rope. I feel like a girl.

Brett hit a 2 foot carp today. It was funny as hell. He was just crossing the wake and WAM! He dissapears. He ended up with a bloody nose and a big fish with guts all over, but no damage to the foil. I got pic's, I'll try to post them tomarrow.

landon 05-20-2005 3:56 PM

Troy Weber, how's it going...I've been throwing fronts every time out. Seems like the first few are close then I go downhill. Still not seeing anything.

Looking forward to TN also, I'll probably get there on Tuesday morning.

Brett went fishing huh, A 6-8" fish will knock you down,(2ft) that had to be like hitting a log.
Joe, It's natural not to want to go head over heals on a foil, I think the instinct for survival kicks in or something. After you get yourself to throw one it gets easier. Just jump steep then you won't have to pull as hard.
Good luck!

joesell 05-20-2005 5:05 PM

Here's the pic's of Brett. I took them with a camera phone so there not the greatest.

totall_troy 05-20-2005 6:30 PM

Dude..Look at Bretts face in the first pic. He's like OOOOOahun.Damn that fish is big.
Keith I have a feeling were both getting fronts in TN,Me and greg will get in monday evening.

Hey Joe,u up for riding at Clinton Memorial day weekend?? If not I'd like to come up and ride with you guys.

05-20-2005 6:54 PM

Even though the pics are small, that fish still looks huge! Geof... I believe Brett has found a way (possibly expensive and more dangerous) to combine foiling and fishing!!

(Message edited by shagnwagn on May 20, 2005)

joesell 05-21-2005 8:29 PM

I got out today. I didn't try a front because I didn't have anyone reliable on the release. I did ride away from 2 new tricks though. I finally landed an air roll, and a gainer. I've crashed at least 100 times, but today it just clicked. I landed the roll and went straight to the gainer and landed that. I'm on my way.

Troy, I don't think I can make it to Clinton, but your always welcome here. I did take vacation for the fly-in though.
If you do come up, bring Brett's shims. I need to see what I need.
Joe

don_stark 05-22-2005 5:42 PM

Joe

Sorry I missed the pull on saturday. I was up at Castle Rock Lake thursday to Today fishing and skiing. My buddy started using the wake for for jumping. Now he is going double what he use to in the flats on jumps and rolls thats if he lands them. The guys got balls for trying new tricks with that much pop off the wake. Over half the time he blows up like somethin fierce. But gets up and trys again. I am getting real close to land a gainer probably tried about 20 times then started to try a wake roll, that seems to be easier than a gainer.

Later, Dan

Anyone out there a SoCal Hydrofoiler. I really want to land the front and the best way to learn is riding with someone better. Just ordered my LEX and im pretty stoked to try it. its gonna be freakin sweet man. air chairs stealth just isnt doin it for me anymore. too much work and not enough reward. but as soon as i get the LEX its on.
