Ok, I'm hooked....

Tried Wakesurfing for the first time yesterday behind my CC SV211 Team Edition. I grew up surfing/skimboarking and Wakesurfing felt really natural. It takes a bit of practice to get the sweet spot, get foot positioning right, learn how to accelerate and brake but what a rush! The best part is pitching the handle and pumping the face/working the lip. I'm goofy footed so the prop rotation on my boat and moving all the ballast to one side made for a great curl.

I can't wait to demo a few more boards and dial the wake in even more. Props to Big-Xstar for the pointers and help dialing in the ride!

I'm now reading all the "which board is best" posts but if anyone has a recommendation for a 180lb guy with more of a surfing style (crouched over pumping and trying floaters) please let me know.

Thanks!
Hey Tyler,

From one SV-211 owner to another, how are you weighting your boat? I am goofie footed as well. You can find pics of my surf wake here:

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/200107.html?1114064490

I had the belly tank and the tank on the side we were surfing on full and about six peeps on the side of the boat, also had it in slalam mode.

(Message edited by air_sv211 on April 22, 2005)

(Message edited by air_sv211 on April 22, 2005)

Big Dog,

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera this trip (next time) but the wake looks comparable to yours. Size looks to be about the same but I don't see the thick lip curling over in your photos that I had yesterday. As for weight I had starboard and Belly stock ballast full, An additional 400lb ballast bag in the floor ski locker and another 400lb one in the starboard locker. Then we took four 50 lb lead sacks and piled them on the starboard side and two peeps in the boat on the starboard side. Drove approx 9.5mph with a constant gradual right hand turn, wakeboard mode.

I'll snap some pics for comparison next time.

I found I got a better wake in slalam mode than I did in wakeboard mode.

Tyler,

What board are you riding?

I am still trying to get the wake dialed in. I just got 400 lbs in bags and am going to try again next week. I can get a good wake, just haven't been able to let go of the line for very long. I am sure we will get it soon. You are right, it is a blast!

I have a CWB Ride. If you want to give it a try, you are more than welcome if I am there at the lake that day. Just let me know.

Mike,

So let me get this straight, your buying gear that you shouldn't even be using until post recovery....I thought I was hooked.

Buzz,

I was using a Hyperlite board that Kevin was borrowing from EDoubleU. I had no problem riding without the rope once I learned where the sweet spot was. The only thing I had to be care off was learning how to slow down as I got close to hitting the swimstep a few times. Heck, I'm even going to try out an old 6'6 thruster I have in the garage!!

Big Dog< I'll have to try switch modes next time. Thanks for the tip.

tylor,

i am joking about the wakeskate... but geoff did me a major favor on the surf board...
