Hey guys,
This is going to be my 2nd summer wakeboarding, I currently have a '05 Hyperlite Motive 140. I like the board, but a friend of mine is offering me a '00 Byerly 137 for $150. Price really isn't an issue cuz I found a buyer for my Motive who's willing to pay $150, so I break even. I'm looking to step up right now, and I'm wondering if this would be a good switch? Also, is it going to be that much of a difference going from 140 to 137. I'm 6'2 and 160lbs. THANX!!!

Seems expensive for an '00. I'd offer $75.

yeah, $150 might be a bit steep, unless it's brand new. although, the 2000 byerly was one of the best molds ever made.

also, the byerly is a completely different ride from the motive. the motive has a "friendlier" pop off the wake, whereas the byerly will buck you pretty hard.

(Message edited by dakid on May 04, 2006)

I would stick with the 05 Motive over an 00 Byerly.

The kid I'm buying it from had it given to him, he tried it two or three times and decided wakeboarding wasn't for him. So it's basically brand new, and like I said, I'm gonna break even here so price really isn't an issue for me, but would it be a good move? 05 motive 140 to a '00 Byerly 137?

Everyones different, and it depends on what you are lookin for out of a board.

kingskrew 05-04-2006 1:19 PM

Well, you're best bet is going to be trying it out first and seeing if you like it. If it's your buddy offering it, he should let you try it out first. If it's really in brand-new shape, I'd consider offering more than $75, but $150 seem like a lot so spend on a 6+ year old board.

Like Joe said, the boards ride VERY differently, so get it out on the water and see if you like it.

-Steve

alright, good point, I should be able to get it out on the water for a weekend before I decide on buying it. Thanks again.

I love my '00 byerly. Got mine 2 years ago for $100. You might want to re-think the price.

Yeah, I dig that Byerly mold. It was one of my first rides. I kind wish I still had it.

my 03 137 is hell of fast to the wake and it throws you straight up. great board took some getting use to fun ride. I would ride it for the weekend and make a decision. I'ts not for everybody

maybe if your buddy rode your motive, he might like wakeboarding.

Like i said guys, price REALLY isn't a big deal here, cuz I'm going to be breaking even. But seeing how alot of you are saying $100 and $75 i'll talk to him and get him to come down some. Thanx for all the input, if neone else has nething on the board I'd love to hear it.
