I was bored this winter and put stomp pads on my new fish. Turns out I put the back one too far back and want to take it off and move it up a bit. I was thinking of using a hair dryer to heat it up then reapplying with some sort of glue.

The board is epoxy.

Hey Ryan -- I think Jeff has done this more than anyone. I'm sure he'll chime in.
The hairdryer should work, but be careful not to stretch the traction too much.

Jeff can tell you more about the spray adhesive as well...

Yep...that's the process. Get a corner started, especially if one is already starting to unglue. Work slowly and keep a constant "pull" as you go. It should come up pretty quickly.

3M spray adhesive - super 77 I think, I have a can at home.

Clean your board of any residual and then slap the re-glued pad back down. I've found that I have to weight the stomp pad down while it sets up for best adhesion.

Sweet, thanks.

Go to home depot and get some goof-off. It will make your life easy. Once you have taken it off, clean the board with alcohol. The super 77 may work. You may have to use something stronger...

good call on the "goof off" Ian.

As for the super 77 -- in my opinion the best way to do it is

1. lay down the traction on the board loosely where you want it to go
2. tape off the area along the edge of the traction with some masking tape (on the board -- not the traction)
3. spray the super 77 on the board trying to avoid overspray (hence the tape)
4. spray the underside of the traction
5. let both start to dry a bit (wait a minute or two)
6. press traction down paying particular attention to the edges
7. remove tape
8. surf!

Doesn't "goof-off" contain titanium dioxide? That's a suspected carcinogen. I'd stick with heat and elbow grease. In the event you do go with a solvent - I always like to do a test patch - the board in my picture has the logo painted on the outside...that would go the way of the buffalo
