Needing a new helmet. I currently have a pro tec but was looking for a helmet that has an adjustment in back. Anyone make that? Any helmet recommendations?

I have heard that Shread Ready helmets are pretty cool. I plan on buying one this year.

Cool thanks. I am looking for a functional one more than cool one. Ear flaps also a must.

Jason,

I bought this one last fall. Adjustable in back, protection for ears...

http://www.shredready.com/products/standardfc.html

Andy...hey that was the one I just looked at, at first I was looking at 1/2 face but then saw the full cut that has ear protection. So my helmet now has like foam ear things that snap in and out, how is it on that helmet? Does water flow through good? How do you like it overall?

I have the capix wake helmet that is styled like a baseball helmet. Can't say enough good about it. Now the only time I notice is when I'm NOT wearing it. Behind the boat I won't get brave without having it on. And...it comes with ear flaps.

Jason,

If you give me a day or so, I'll take some pics so you can see the ear flaps & how they fit. They do not press on your ears so there's space between your ears & the helmet. This allows you to hear better than if the flaps were resting on your ears. The Shred Ready Standard full cut has already saved my ear once since I bought it several month's ago.

I agree with SR best helmets out IMO.

black_ops_09 01-12-2010 10:29 AM

Thanks Andy...so they do come out?

ottog1979 01-12-2010 10:34 AM

No. Ear flaps are a permanent part of the helmet. I like it that way & that's why I chose this model.

black_ops_09 01-12-2010 10:35 AM

cool, did you get my other email last night I had just a bit more questions, then will i think get that one?

ottog1979 01-12-2010 11:05 AM

The Shred ready does come in one size where you add shims (padding) to make it smaller. I have a big head, 6 1/2 to 6 5/8 so didn't have to add much for me. The snug adjustment at the back of the helmet helps a lot also. It's easy to adjust - just put on the helmet & then snug up the strap.

I might add that I've never worn a helmet for wakeboarding before so I have nothing to compare it to. Seems to work fine for me.

Again, I'll take some pics this afternoon & post if you want.

(Message edited by ottog1979 on January 12, 2010)

The Super Scrappy is the one most of the SR wake riders wear I believe. I just got one for Christmas!

The SS is not what Im looking for...I dont want a bill like that, and I want it to cover the back of my head

black_ops_09 01-12-2010 12:20 PM

Andy...when falling does it drain good?

ottog1979 01-12-2010 1:02 PM

It must "drain" fine because I never notice.

black_ops_09 01-12-2010 1:15 PM
