Why does he always switch edges before hitting the wake? And he only does spins?

Is he just riding the way he wants or....i just dont understand why youd want to do a toe back 1 on your appraoch in and then launch a huge 540 wake to wake...

I respect him for doing his won thing, its fun to watch but how annoying would it be to have to keep turning around b/c he falls on a ollie 3 coming into the wake....

roy_munson 08-31-2009 11:56 AM

like....setlle down back there, colin.

nsolis220 08-31-2009 11:59 AM

its called style and he rips. I think its sick how he rides.

tentcitygoon 08-31-2009 12:03 PM

He is a pioneer, very sick rider. w2w backside 7 back in the day. Simply put it is his own style.

K.B.C. 08-31-2009 12:04 PM

because he rides how he wants to ride not how you think he should ride. how boring would wakeboarding be if eveybody rode exactly the same way? Collin is the man

fullspeed 08-31-2009 12:35 PM

I enjoy watching him ride. I hate watching same old trick done the same way by different riders. That is why to me watching contest on Fluel TV can be boring. Same Trick over and over again, but maybe a longer grab or more out to the flats.

I think Colin Wright loves to wakeboard and he only does it his way. That is his own style.

moman 08-31-2009 12:45 PM

I'm surprised that Collin didn't get any play in the Alliance article on freeriding vs tournements. He is one of the true freeriders out there today still making it. And he definately had influence in the westcoast style movement.

andy_nintzel 08-31-2009 12:47 PM

One thing I can say for Colin is that Colin rides for Colin and no One Else, he rides the way he wants.

BTW he can do just about every mobe.

liquidmx 08-31-2009 12:58 PM

Agreed with the above mentioned sentiments. Colin is BY FAR one of my favorite riders to watch. I think a BIG reason he doesnt get more video play is that he makes everything look so easy, smooth and effortless. Ever try some of those 180's into the wake into a BS spin? Lots harder than you would think.

behindtheboat 08-31-2009 1:03 PM

i always assumed he was giving Parks a hard time

lfadam 08-31-2009 1:17 PM

I miss seeing footage of him ride, definitely a fun dude to watch

lyle 08-31-2009 1:22 PM

rmcronin 08-31-2009 1:55 PM

???????????? Looks like he is having a blast all the time and rides like I only dream I could.

96formula 08-31-2009 2:13 PM

Check out a video called The Double Up Experience.

boardtodeath 08-31-2009 2:51 PM

Or My House, Six Pack, Westside, etc. Colin has put together some pretty amazing sections!

srh00z 08-31-2009 2:52 PM

He has got to be one of the most talented guys in regards to spins. He does some nice rewinds too.

czap 08-31-2009 3:29 PM

andy where did you see him doin these mobes?? ive only ever seen him do a roll to revert in the old school vids.

andy_nintzel 08-31-2009 3:49 PM

Hahahahahha

Scooter in Person man! I think that he tosses a few in Inuendo to But I dont rememeber. I got to ride with him in Oregon a few times, both being on The House team at the time. I asked him about his style and he straigt told me, i like to spin man its fun, and WAY harder than flipping. I have to agre with him, really a pioneer on things like Shifty spins, tic tocs, TS Blind spinnin, rewinding spins. I love the vision he has for wakeboarding. To bad he hung up the old wakeboard, we need more people like him.

wakedad33 08-31-2009 4:08 PM

My favorite Colin section is in "Monkey On a String", so stylish. And like Andy said he can do all the inverts, just chooses not to. Props to him.

ttrigo 08-31-2009 4:17 PM

"To bad he hung up the old wakeboard"

is he on the skate now, or doing nothing? I loved watching him ride, but I could never keep up with whatever board company he was riding with.

wakedad33 08-31-2009 4:52 PM

He's doing some coaching and is still riding.

blabel 08-31-2009 7:18 PM

Smooth style and he just looks like he's having a blast. Oh and I am so trying that wake jump to frontside 3 out of the trough that he did in the video

adam_balon 08-31-2009 7:36 PM

i saw him in vegas a year or so ago. i think he has a shop now??? he used to give me serum and collin wright boards back in the day and i had the pleasure of shredding with him a bunch. he slays it.

his double up boards rode amazing.

the_bum 08-31-2009 8:14 PM

I actually watched My House on Sunday and he does a roll to revert and a crow.
Def have taken some of his ideas into my own riding. Spin to win!!
Havent heard anything about him in a while tho

roy_munson 09-01-2009 5:56 AM

i remember a while back one of the mags had a sequence shot of him jibbing a pipe. but it wasnt just any jib. colin comes in wrapped and hits bs spin out of it and onto the pipe. it was awesome. it really blew my mind.

sinkoumn 09-01-2009 6:28 AM

Colin is the man! Love to watch him ride.

andy_nintzel 09-01-2009 6:46 AM

Honestly I would like any one out there who is questioning his ability to try and to a ts bs 180 tic toc and then even try and clear the way let alone toss a frontside 5.
