Just peaking at the website again after its first introduction a couple of months back and noticed a new picture that i thought people would like to see

http://standardboats.com/default.aspx

That's a sweet backwards and upside down tower on their site.
I noticed the same thing nu bu!

The one pictured above looks pretty neat though.

Did they buy the rights to the old Nautique 2001 mold?
I have no idea but it does look similar. Wasn't one of the guys from that company posting up on here several months ago?
If it wasn't someone from the company then it was someone on here that had seen these guys at a boat show.

Before the comments start flying remember this is the wakeboat that everyone was asking for. No flash, great wake, and great price.
An improvement for sure.
I like that wrap too... good looking boat. Nice work guys!
Looks good to me!

<!-quote-!>quote:
That's a sweet backwards and upside down tower on their site.<!-/quote-!>

Some tower manufacturers make and install towers this way. I have seen a Malibu and a Tige with a tower similar to this. It's just something different that some customers want.
The monster's a winner for sure.

Sweet boat.
Eesh the second one on the website is F'd up to bad too since its a great picture. I think what these guys are doing is great and I wish them well. That has to be the 2001 redone which is just what so many have wished for.
MattG,

Where have you seen a tower installed backwards and where the tow ball is on the underside of the tower? Pics please.
Here is one from a member on www.tigeowners.com. It looks like the tow mount is on top. I have seen an 04 or 05 Malibu with a similar setup on Boattrader.com before.

How about that POS Metcraft tower that came on Tiges & Calabrias? They had the tow ball on the underside. And they looked dumb as hell.
The one with the Monster tower and wrap looks really good. I thought it was a restored 2001 with a different winshield at first. Anyone know the price tag? If it's a 2001 hull with 335hp they got a winner on their hands. Someone throw 2000lbs in it an get some wake photos.
Nevermind their press release in Waterski mag says MSRP just under $30k. Not bad little higher than I was thinking but a good looking boat none the less.
nu bu, maybe the tow ball is able to flip up and down like the Alpha Z?

http://www.tige.com/images/unique/alphaz/nav-light.jpg
Ryan,

From what I hear the boats are now coming with integrated (pure vert syle I think) ballast. I rode behind this boat a couple months ago (don't have pics on this comp) and it kicked an awesome wake. Definitely the best bang for your buck.
I like the backwards tower better, but it would be even better the other way around. That Monster tower looks like the old Titan "spider mounting your boat" not a good look IMO. Seems like you could get more area of the boat covered with a larger bimini with the original tower too.

Sick little boat anyway, I'd rock one for sure.
Sanger did a few v210s and ZX Drivers with the F'd up tower configurations back in the late 90s. They had a few at the Pleasanton boat show, I thought how f'd up they were.
some form of a swoop tower would look awsome. not a big monster fan
I just drove and rode behind this boat 2 weeks ago. It's a SOLID boat, and the wake is very similar to the 2001. I rode it with just 2 persons and about 1000lbs and that already gave a very nice wake. Phil, the builder/owner of Standard boats, surfed it with the same amount of ballast.
I love the concept and might try to get one to Costa Rica.
I'd buy one they look pretty sweet. I like the clean, no bling look of em
Has anybody here bought one yet?
From post I've seen the hull is a fresh start designed by the same head designer that did the 210 hull, so you could say that it shares allot of the finer points wake wise..
me likey. someday.
Details on ballast options?
Interior looks like it was pulled from an early 90s toyota corolla. Loving the deck chair captains seat lol.
A ventilated seat is a pretty good idea methinks. It was pretty comfortable anyway, so no reason for complaints.
Ballast: 800 lbs purevert or preplumbed pumps. Not sure if this is final, there might be other options in the future as well.
I like the boat and the idea overall, but I would want a higher windshield. That one seems too low and it ruins the lines of the boat for me. Looks like an old ProStar 190 windshield and I never liked them, they laid back too far.
800lbs purevert and optionally plumbed pumps sounds good. Ash what boat are you looking at. I never saw a old corolla that looked like that
You mean an early 90's Nautique?? While I agree there are a few improvements to be made, I dig that it looks retro. I'm all for complete functionality taking the lead over aesthetics.

I don't like the new graphics or tower posted above / on the Standard homepage, though... they don't seem to match the 'Standard' concept...
Here is the post from Darrell Cardova swiped from the old post. "Wow, even after six years of designing at Nautiques and reading negative posts on the product these juvenile comments still get under my skin. I'd like to introduce myself and put my $0.02 in:

I was the Senior CAD Designer for Correct Craft from 00-06, designed products for Pickard USA, Nick Anglada with Custom Sportbike Concepts and most recently consulted for Disney Ride & Show Engineering.

I'm not here to argue or bash other boat builders. Lets just say that after the corporate mentality took over at CC my heart wasn't in it anymore, it was time to part ways. The owner of Standard Boats is a long time friend of mine. When he explained to me that he was going to pursue this project I was completely excited.

This boat is aimed at the core rider. In no way has any shortcuts been taken in construction or materials to achieve the seating, bling or mini-van luxuries of everything else on the market. The hull/deck construction is ahead of its time. The other manufacturers have been attempting to incorporate this (Resin Infused Composite) for years. The drive-ability is incredible and the wake is phenomenal.

I could go on and on about this boat but the bottom line is I don't like spending my weekends digging out rotten stringers, repairing screws lagged into fiberglass or looking at cracked upholstery. I have kids to put through college so I have no desire to finance 50-75k on my hobby. When I get back from my project in New York this boat will be sitting in my driveway. "
Thanks for the clarification Dave. I've been waiting for a credible source to comment on these boats.

I'm a big fan and think with some additional exposure, this concept could really catch on. A+
If we could get some pricing info and a wake review from a credible rider... I could be down to come try one out ;)
i think they are about 27,000ish
WOW... maybe I'll stick with a refurbed SN2001 w/perfect pass and a tower for a cool $8-10K.... and spend the other cash on cable passes for the next 17 years. Geez... I was thinking $15-20K would be reasonable.
there has been post on here with a picture of them at an event.... they had a banner that had the price on it. I'm sure that I'm pretty close.
I may be off on my numbers a bit, but the engine alone is $8k-$10k. Not many options for a cheaper engine that will allow them to use the single smart gauge.

Add the hull cost, interior, ballast, PP, trailer, etc... things start to add up.

You can get a no frills SN2001 in good condition for $9k, but not with PP and a tower. Even at that, they have been very few and far between this year.
Really? Looks like 5 all below $10K posted in the last week on here:

http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forsale/

$1K for PP and $1K for a tower.
A brand spankin new boat for less than 30K, or a POS used waterwhor for less than 10K? Take the 10K you want to spend on the relic, use that has your down payment, roll the other 20K into a small loan, and for the monthly price of a decent bartab, your on a new UNUSED-UNMOLESTED boat with a w a r r a n t y.
POS, relic, waterwhor?

Lets check in 30 years to see if there are any "Standard" boats still going strong. My lake is FULL of SN2001s.

Go ahead and finance that boat homie... I'll be there waiting when you default because of your bartabs to snatch it up for $10K from the bank ;)
Lurker:

Sure, for $4,250 you can get this:

"Have owned boat for 2 years. Ran it last summer, didn't run it any this summer, has been covered this year. Ran well last summer. Needs tranny rebuild and new carb. Bench seat needs new foam, rest is in good shape. Back left floor has separated some. Was planning on rebuilding tranny and put in new carb but need to unload at this time, hate too."

Good luck with picking up a $5k SN2001 and only putting $2k into it for tower and PP. You'll notice that most all of the boats in good condition are going for $9k-$10k. There are some really nice options if you are up North, but there just aren't nearly as many options/availability as there were 3-4 years ago.
Chris, it's only a POS if that's how it has been treated. I've seen some newer wake boats that look much worse than my 24 year old Nauty.

Back to the topic, though... I hear there's gonna be a Standard demo in TX soon.
Sik boat Fro-Z BTW. A+
Gracias...

She's treated me well. Got that one pretty close to local for $8900 and don't want to total up what I've put into it...

I'm pretty pumped to check out the Standard wake. Just another option for someone wanting a boat under $30k and it looks like they've done a good job from what I've seen/heard. But, I get what you're saying too. I've never had a boat payment and like it that way for now.
What's is it all that you have to check on the Standard's Wake if it's the same freaking hull as the 2001 Nautique????

I'd put a PCM.123:1 transmission and you got a hell of a pulling machine
Well, with 335 HP you got quite a pulling machine here.
"I was thinking $15-20K would be reasonable."
That's what I said about the F430 to the Ferrari dealer last week.
C'mon dude, this is not a playmobil boat, but a real wakeboardboat with a real engine and a state of the art building process. Don't get me wriong, I wouldn't mind it being $15K, but unfortunately you have to be realistic. Sometimes.
Nice improvement with the new tower option.
Phil at Standard has put me in my place and offered a demo this weekend on the new Standard Boat. Although I'm 8 weeks post-op ACL reconstruction, I was already planning on heading down to OWC for the weekend with a friend to get some footage... so I will document our ride and give a full review when I get back home. Should be interesting... big props to Phil for doing this!
cool... i look forward to seeing it. I'm not going to buy one.... but I like to know what's out there. I always thought they needed a good budget wake boat.... instead of making it a "rich mans sport" being a lot of boats are in the 50K range
"POS, relic, waterwhor?"

Dude posted links for boats from 1984!

As far as:
" Go ahead and finance that boat homie... I'll be there waiting when you default because of your bartabs to snatch it up for $10K from the bank ;)"

No you won't, because you still be asking customers if they want to "supersize" that or not. My point 30Kmillie, was I can pickup cans along the side of the road, and make that payment. If (with 10K down)you can't make a less than $200 monthly tab, your failing at far more than just boating. No question there are great older boats, but that direction is not one that many maintain. Most of us, START with one of those, and then we move up. We have great memories of those sleds, but we still move on, we turn the page. Just like I will be doing with this thread (bored).
"supersize that" huh...

you must have missed in my profile where it says that I'm a CPA. I'm sure "production" is a great career choice though, LOL... plenty of time to finance stuff I'm guessing. What a joke.
Luker, how was it? What are your findings?!
