My dad and I are buying a new boat by the end of summer. We are stuck between the Wakesetter VLX and the X2, and I wanted to know everyone's opinion on the both of them.

big_ed_x2 05-08-2005 8:25 PM

Seen a 05 VLX on the water last week at Elsinore and I do got to say they looked ALOT better on the water and one of the better looking boat on the water but my vote got to go for the x2.

P.S. my opinion is bias but when I bought my boat I didn't know about anything and looked at all the boats and ended up with x2 and a happy MC owner in every aspect tho either boat you get YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY!

(Message edited by big_ed_x2 on May 08, 2005)

Base your decision off your experience with the dealer. Both those boats are the creme of the crop, you want a dealer that you will feel comfortable dealing with for the life of the boat.
The dealer makes or breaks a good boat experience.

i second that also, service is a huge deal at the dealership some places it will take up to 2 months just to get you boat in for a tune up.

I read your post and.....I can't help you.

Ditto,
Ask around if you can. The dealer's service dept can make or break your enjoyment as a boat owner.

I guess my service at CALIFORNIA SKIER is top notch so I didn't dawn on me when I posted but yes I will say the boat that will be on the water more will be a better choice!

CALIFORNIA SKIER ROCKS!!!!

My vote is for the VLX, but both are awesome boats, can not go wrong either way. But it all comes down to personal choice how the dealers are, and what lil extras you like more. GO MALIBU

After seeing the way that both boats are made in the factory, I'd go with the X2 all the way.

I'm sorry but I've been on both boats & the VLX takes the cake easy!! It has more interior space, more ballast, better handling and is a larger boat. The wake is off the hook & everything is under floor, we tend to put a 500 in the nose though. The new VLX is off the chain.

I have had the chance to make the same choice 2 times in the last two years, both times I went with the better boat for MY needs, VLX.

tdeneka 05-09-2005 12:44 PM

I ended up getting a Nautique, but the VLX was a close second, the X2 a close third.

gobiggrom54 05-09-2005 12:54 PM

X2! the x2 is the best boat besides the SAN

h20jnky 05-09-2005 12:55 PM

demo, demo, demo...

skibum69 05-09-2005 12:56 PM

It's all in your preferences, the X2 has a more peaky wake, the new VLX has more of a rampy wake. The VLX I demo'd handled awesome, even with full ballast! Go with which one you like the looks of, like the wake, and which dealer is better.

drewsky24 05-09-2005 1:12 PM

I like the way the VLX looks and it I know it has a good wake, the X2 has a real good wake but is not as nice looking(but its still real nice).

live2wakeboard 05-09-2005 2:16 PM

Go With the VLX. I love mine and its always full in the summer. And I really like our malibu dealership so i guess that is why i went with it but i love an malibu. GO MALIBU!!!!

dakid 05-09-2005 2:40 PM

mastercraft owners will say x-2.
malibu owners will say vlx.
one of the guys above will tell you not to listen to me 'cause i "don't even own a bayliner."

you can't go wrong with either boats, but i say demo each one w/ extra weight. bring lots of gear to test the storage. ask lots of questions about the boat, the options offered, and the service they provide. then research past customers from the dealers and ask them if they would buy from them again. find out why/why not.

(Message edited by dakid on May 09, 2005)

i own a SUPra but if i had those to choose form id go VLX more room ,storage and both have great wakes but the vlx is slightly better..

drewsky24 05-10-2005 6:17 PM

We were gonna buy the VLX because of the amount of bang you get for your buck but my dad likes the LSV better than both.
