Thought I might get some advice from you guys. I understand I wont get a huge wave out off my Calabria Cal-Air DD, but want to try and maximize it.

Here is what I have:
700lb under floor Pure Vert Ballast, 350 lb to each side.
Should I only fill surf side?

A really big storage trunk in rear- thought I could put a 300-400lb bag in there, but it would go across the back of the boat.
Is it better to run this all the way across or get a smaller bag in locker on surf side corner?

A 500 lb lounge chair to run on surf side of boat from rear bench next to DD engine box.

I have heard people mention a better side to surf on based on which way prop turns? How do you know which is stronger?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

dg

looks like a similar setup to my Malibu. I've found that the best setup so far is the centre MLS filled (200lt where the walkthrough is) 200lt in the observer ski locker, 250lt across the back seat on the observer side, then another 250lt on the observer side from the rear seat to 1/2 way down the engine cover. We also have a wedge so which helps since the fuel tank is under the rear locker and I don't think 250lt on the tank would help it much. One thing I found was moving the ballst to the bow from the obs locker actually shortened the rideable pocket. Good luck with the setup. IS have this clip that may help
http://www.inlandsurfer.com/videos-2007_detail.asp?ID=7&page=1

I have a DD and I find I get my optimum wake with my front ski locker ballast empty, my rear ballast tank full ( mine is under my rear seat, I have a 250 lbs bag between the back seat and motor, a 540 lbs sac on the surf side with an additional 540 sac on top of the surf side sack running onto the back seat. With my DD I find it is all about loading the surf side and when i used to try filling the front centre ballast it was counter productive, it seems like with the engine in the centre of the boat once you put additional weight in the front centre you were essentially countering your side ballast. With this set up I get a nice size pocket and no need to drive in an arc.
