i have a MC 2004 X star and i am looking to replace the prop after my idiot friends completely smashed it up. the boat itself is ok but the prop can not be saved. my dealer wants to charge me 570.00 for a new OJ 13.7 x 17 (on the boat right now) and i was looking to see if anyone had a good place to get one a little cheaper. I have read some good reviews on the OJ 4 blade xmp 14.25 x 14.5 for my boat but the dealer said not to use this prop, "it would be like putting new tires on a car". just wondering if anyone had more info on this than i do. thanks

First off, your dealer is smoking some serious crack if he wants to charge you $570 for a 13.7x17 prop. You can get them for $412 at:

http://www.propellersonline.com/skiboat.php?PHPSESSID=d5701756bdb96e93b1a836da3325 6f26

I cannot say for sure how the 14.25x14.5 will work on your boat, but I just bought a similar prop (14.25x14) for my Supra and I am kicking myself for suffering the last two years with the stock prop (14x18) I was using. With the new prop it's like driving a different boat. The hole shot is unreal. It's like there's no ballast in the boat, despite the 2400 lbs I'm riding with. Also, with the new prop my boat holds speed so much better. I was without my perfect pass this past weekend (sent off for repair) and with the new prop I had no trouble at all holding speed on my own.

Contact Eric and OJ and he will tell you which prop you need for the ballast you are running. If you do go with the lower pitch prop I believe you can get it for $475 at the same link above. Also, Karl at www.boarditup.com has decent prices as well. However, you may find the best deal at skiertoskier.com

(Message edited by nauty on May 29, 2007)

The Acme part number is the 1285. Works great.

^^^ I agree. I haven't heard anything bad about Acme...
