Sounds like one more electrical nightmare when it doesn't perform and needs to be troubleshot...

If I am not mistaken the Nautiques have had or still use keyless ignitions?

I got rid of my key switch and installed a starter button from a viper and relocated the ingition part to a switch that runs 2 relays. I can try to get pics if you want. The viper starter button was just slightly larger than the lock cyl. I just dremeled it out a little.

My Nautique has keyless ignition and I love it. <BR> <BR>Since there has been a recent rash of boat thefts right off the dock I have been locking the ignition any time I am out of the boat. It is really nice to not have to worry about who had the key last, where it put, etc. <BR> <BR>I'll be really sad if/when it ever craps out, but until then it is really handy.

I put in a keyless ignition in my boat first thing. I do not understand the key thing with my boat. I am in it or it is on the trailer. I have had that same (mercruiser) keyless ignition in my boat for 6 yrs. The code part stopped working a couple of years ago, but it still works as a pushbutton start so I haven't bothered fixing it. It can do some cool things, automatically run your blower for 2 minutes, automatically turn on your bilge pump. Psyclone- <BR> Quick question about the Mercuiser system. Does the blower system always kick on everytime you try to start? What if there is a situation where you need to start the boat ASAP. Or when you are switching riders does can you stop the engine then fire it right up with out the blower? Just curious on how it works. Do you have to reset your code if you put your batteries on Off on a Perko?

I thought you still had to have a key with the keyless ignition for a CC? My friend has a SV-211 and he puts the key in somewhere under the throttle (I dont know where because he doesn't let me drive). Although you could just leave it in there for all of eternity if that were the case

Cason: <BR> <BR>You might be thinking of the safety lanyard. I consider it rediculous, but ski boats these days are equipped with the same kill switch lanyard that a PWC would have. Mine clips on the throttle. It isn't a "key" per-se as they are pretty much all the same. <BR> <BR>The keyless system on my SAN is very easy to operate. A four digit code will lock or unlock the system. Once the system is unlocked the engine will start or stop with the push of a signle button, you don't need to re-enter the code each time. <BR> <BR>It has a "self locking" feature that will activate if the boat sits "off" for a few hours. <BR> <BR>The bilge pump circuit is separate, and always on. Everything else is on when the system is unlocked. Kind of like having the key in the "acc" position, but nicer because the stereo doesn't shut off between "ignition on" and "ACC" <BR> <BR>The 2000 Air Nautique I used to own had a keyless system as well, but it wasn't quite as nice. It only had one code that was factory set. <BR> <BR>The system I have on the 2003 SAN allows me to put in my own code. It remembers it even if the battery is removed. Apparently there is a dealer/factory code so that the service guys can work on it without needing your code. I don't know if it the same for all or if they look it up someplace.

Coach, <BR>the auto blower thing doesn't keep you from being able to start the boat, it just runs the blower automatically. You don't have to reenter the code when you power down via the perko, it remembers it somehow.

I just want to make sure that is what I want (it is what I want but make sure the features will work the way I want) <BR> <BR>So once you enter the security code you can stop and start at any time, but the blower will go on for 3 minutes when you start. Does it give you a beep or signal when to start? Is the run button for when you want to start the boat quickly? Do you hold the button down or is it a one touch and done configuration? How long before it locks the key pad? I want the ablity to lock the key pad when we float so none of the kids hit start or run. Does this limit how you fast you can start the boat or can you start it right away with the blower working? Sorry if this sounds repeative. I just want a clear understanding of the way it works before I get one. I didn't find any good info on the web about it. First hand experience is always the best IMO. No problema senor. You don't have to hook up the wire that runs your blower or your bilge pump if you don' wanna. If you choose to, it just starts the blower when you start the engine and turns it off after a couple of minutes. Keypad stays unlocked until you enter the code again and lock it. You can start right away, you just have to enter the code, press Run, (wait for the dash to power up, 3 sec or so) then press Start to turn the engine over. No big deal, you get so you can to it very quickly. I just leave it unlocked all the time, press Run, then Start.

Psyclone- <BR> Thanks. I have no problem with the blower and bilge. I actually really like the idea, but just didn't want a delay where the blower was going to run for 3 minutes everytime then the engine would start. It sounds like the blower turns on as you start the engine, which helps but defeats the purpose of turning on the blower if the engine has been sitting a while. Either or, it is what I am going to be installing in my new boat. Thanks for all of the help. You da Man!
