Quick question: <BR> <BR>I have a 2001 X-Star with the factory setup (clarion marine). Will these older remotes work with the newer head units such as the cmd4? <BR> <BR>I was going to go with an alpine headunit and rf remotes...but after pricing everything out with the Ipod interface that I want, it might be cheaper to do a Clarion headunit.

They "should." I'd go with the CMD5 if you're looking at Clarion's. The MP3 feature will be worth it.

I'm pretty sure the older Clarion remotes will work with the newer Clarion head units. <BR>I agree with <b>evil0ne</b>, the CMD5 is nice! <BR>It comes with a wireless remote and it uses the newer iPod interface (EA1276). <BR>You can find the CMD5 on eBay for $250 delivered.
