ok well i'm gonna try one of these this weekend and i was looking for some tips to keep me from doing an air to faceplant. whats the edge in for it? just crank in a hard progressive edge, pop and let your feet release behind you?

Where a helmet if you can find one..

I'm thinking about doing one too, and i've been confused a little myself. Ive heard just to cut as hard as you can toward the wake and hold it. Does this mean you don't pop or something? or do you hold the edge and pop at the same time (if that makes any sense). And do you have to throw your feet behind you at all, or will physics do all the work for you?

evan, yes physics will do the majority of the work. you dont need a super hard cut at the wake to do them either. when i do them i feel like i load 80 percent of the weight on my front foot. i get my shoulders behind my hips. i stand tall at the wake and extend my arms. the board just flies up behind me. if i were you guys i would try a couple without releasing the board. if you are cutting hard enough you WILL feel the board wanting to float behind you. and you will have to force/hold the board under you. until you get that feeling i wouldnt try the trick. after you get the feeling just relax and let it fly behind you.

ive started trying backrolls and im thinking of trying these too. Would it make it easier to cut in like alan is saying but with your arms already extended and at chest height instead of in and at the hip and then when hitting the wake, stand tall and simply move your hands up slightly higher? I tried a normal cut with my arms extended and at chest height and it felt like this could work. A guy i ride with has been trying them but it looks like he's taking his arms from hip height and moving them to around his head and doing this is causing some initial slack, needless to say he's already blacked out a few times on landing.

You guys are straight balls out for sure...if you are a beginnner, like I am, I would really avoid trying this trick for a while or atleast work on it with a wakeskate first. Of all the tricks in wakeboarding, I think this is the one that can really end your day quickly. <BR> <BR>"The Book" instructional dvd starts you off on a trampoline and a wakeskate first and then slowly brings you into this trick. <BR> <BR>Have fun, but be careful...I don't think I'm going to try this trick until I'm nailing tantrums, back rolls, and huge heelside jumps.

andrew. i like to have a very little bend in my elbows. while cutting in the handle is more oriented at my hips but when i hit the trough and start to stand straight up i bring my arms to chest height. dont bring the handle to above your head on the take off. be careful on these. i already had a few inverts under my belt and some spins as well before i tried these.

yea man, when i started trying these i just went balls 2 da walls flat out throwing them, thats prolly not the best way to do it but it worked for me, all i do is cut out as far as i can, cut in progressivly and this is definitly the hardest cut i use in any of my tricks, i usually just try to cut in as fast as i can, hit the wake and i like to stand up while i throw my legs behind me, if you try to stand up and get the pop before you throw your legs out, you will not have enough time to get them back in when coming down, so just throw em out there as you pop (in my opinion) i dunno if thats right either but it works for me, let physics do the rest of the work and i usually end up having a lil slack in my line when im totally extended but i think it helps cause when im pulling back in the line straightening back out and my pulling the handle to my knees makes it ALOT easier to whip your feet back underneath yas, spot your landing, land on the tail of your board so the landing is softer, <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0> and ride away with it, make sure your landing in the flats too, ive never heard of or seen or think its even possible to successfully do a raley w2w <BR> <BR>good luck, this move is EXTREMELEY easy once you get it down but prolly the scariest one to do

well andrew i'm landing backrolls, tantrums and some nice sized hs airs into the flats and chase i think i'm takin your way and goin balls 2 da walls and we'll see what happens. i'll tell you wednesday when i get back how it went.

muddyboss 06-20-2005 6:13 PM

yeah well i gota say ive got some masssive hs and ts jumps, can do ts,hs 3s etc just never really tried going upside down before till i started rolls. i think its time to locate my balls and use them!

don't think just try it. spins are cool but i really like gettin upside down.
