raleys: learning boat speed/rope length

I tried my first few raleys Sunday. The first two I stargazed, landed turned switch toward the boat, and fell on my butt. The third one I put more wieght on my front foot, landed turned regular toward the boat, caught my heel edge and got thrown down hard.

I ride at 22mph on a 70 foot rope. Its is easer to learn this trick at a lower speed and shorter rope? Maybe 20mph @ 65ft?

yes it is recommended to slow boat speed[helps get timing down]shorten rope increases line tension and use about 2/3 of your normal ballast makes wake more rampy and not as steep. try even weight on your feet shoulders square and head above shoulders. GOOD LUCK!

What do you mean by "head above shoulders"?

I'm gonna try 20mph @ 65ft. I plan to video the attempts this time, figure that will help me see why I turning.

think of superman flying with his arms pointed forward like your raley. if he looks down at the ground his head is below or slightly even with his shoulders. if he looks up at the stars his head is higher or above his shoulders. this is to counteract rotation, you raise your head up to stop yourself from rotating into a flip.where your head goes your body will follow.

I'm ready to try this again. I was looking for my landing so my head was not up. Thanks for the tip.
