I just received a boss tower mirror mount to fit my nautique flight control tower and I haven't been very impressed so far. For people that have these, was yours completely polished? Mine was not polished where the rectangular cutouts are and I think it takes away from the look of the arm. Secondly, HOW IN THE WORLD do you get the black knob tight enough to keep the arm from falling down? I tightened it as tight as I could and it still slipped when I hit a double-up. The last thing is that instead of cutting the mirrors to fit specific tower sizes, they just send you metal shims, which didn't sit flush with my tower and scratched it all up. Oh yeah, the screw stripped out too, so now I have to send it back after having it for one day. What is everyone elses experience with these and do you have any tips for getting the black knob tight and not having it scratch my tower so bad. Thanks!

If you read several of the reviews on Wakeside, they also mention stripping out the screws and difficulty tightening the arm. I think I'd try a different mount.

Justin-

If you purchased the mirror arm from us, let's get it back and set you up with something else. We've got quite a few designs that will fit 1 7/8" tubing.

Give me a call tomorrow if you want and we can figure it out.

Jason
www.wakeside.com

I had one on my Nautique and liked it.. I think you might have the main arm mounted up-side down.
I mounted mine when you pushed down on the second arm the mirror is mounted to it would tighten it more. sounds like the way you have it when you push down on the second arm it loosens that's why a DU is making it come loose.
Jason,
I did buy it from you guys and I really appreciate the response. I will be giving you a call tomorrow and I'm sure we can figure something out. Thanks again!

Tom,
That makes sense now that you say that. That probably would definitely have made a difference. I'm still not really sold on the metal shim idea of a way to fit it to different towers, but maybe I just need to give it another chance. That shim put a nice gouge in my tower...we'll see.

Yes like Tom B says you have to mount the arm so that when the weight of the mirrior is on the arm it's pushing down the arm and making it tighter Kind of like how a prop tightens it self onto the shaft.

And yes Caesars Boss mirior arms wer not very highley polished when we got them. They almost looked used. A bit of aluminum polish and you should be good no big deal

If you pull off the black knob and tighten the screw with an allen wrench it will stay tight. I didn't bother putting the black knob back on.

I just tightened the knob then pushed the arm up into the correct position which tightened the arm even more. The arm has never moved. Another must is to drill and install a set screw for the mirror rod to keep it from spinning.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think we got Justin taken care of, but that info will definitely help in the future.
