How much to reupholster an LSV?
 
Like it says above I have a 2004 Malibu LSV and am thinking about having it reupholstered this coming winter. Just wondering how much I would be looking at. Thanks

21 footer? 3-5k IIRC.

go to malibucrew. search for contact info for chee. You can get factory skins made by this guy on the side. Then have your local shop install them. Brand new factory setup. Guessing $3K+ for LSV skins plus local install costs.

This. I wouldn't consider having anyone other than Chee make the skins.

I priced skins for a prostar 190 (1989) and the local shop wanted $2k just for the install. Not counting the price of the skins (made by another guy for $1500).

Am I mistaken but if you have new skins can't you just pull the old ones off and clean the old staples either borrow or buy a crown stapler with 3/4" staples and wrap them yourself? Sounds pretty easy.

Depends on how anal you are. You will never get it like a professional. Someone had a post recently and said most turned out well, but I think it was the curved front seats/bolsters wrinkled up pretty noticeably. Upholstery is for sure an art, one of the reason there isn't a shop on every corner.

I must have got a steal on my upholstery. I have an 04 21' direct drive. I took my boat to a upholstery shop downtown Wichita,KS to a guy with a tiny little shop. I was kind of worried how good of job he would do, but after he measured the boat out he quoted me 1800 bucks. The shop down the street quoted 5k. Took him like 3 weeks. He took every panel off the boat, reupholstered everything, and put it all back together, and also made a bow cushion for me. I was thinking it'd be 3k to get my boat back, but it was only 2 grand and I got the boat back completely ready to go. So moral of the story, I guess it depends on your location. I would suggest taking your boat to every shop in town, and get as many quotes as you can and check out their work.
