Just wanted to see how many riders Buy new Wakeboards When the new shapes/Graphics come out every year.

tings00 09-14-2005 10:37 AM

nope, i usually buy every 3 years, i currently have a 04 obrien vision, and plan on upgrading during the closeout sales of 06. I am currently leaning towards a byerly. does anybody have any reccomendations. I want a fast board with lots of pop that lands soft and isnt super squirrley, but doesnt everyone?

innov8 09-14-2005 10:50 AM

I would demo them all and see what you like, but I would recommend demoing a cwb Absolute based on what you are looking for in a board its fast has alot of pop and lands very soft.

Hell ya, check out my new ride. It's got to be state of the art for me - this year's an aggressively-subtle 3-stage irie paint scheme and plastic ginsu skegs!

Yup, but I buy last years model because I beat them up *bad* on the sliders at OWC. Just picked up a new 04 Motive today from Grizzly Sports for $137 including shipping.

I get a new setup every year. I find that after a year of riding my boards they tend to lose their pop. The cores get worn out and don't snap like they used to. I'm looking forward to trying the CWB Platinum this year to see how it holds up.

Back in the day when I was a poorer soul I would get new bindings one year and a new board the next and alternate like that. I always had the latest something and it worked well. It's definately a luxury to be on the latest & greatest all the time & I feel very fortunate.

Twice a year.... I'm a super board whore and love having something new to play with. Hard to beat the '05 Absolute, so the only excuse I have is to get an '06 Platinum. The new CWB bindings easily justify their purchase, so it looks like a pair of Fuse's are on the way. Anyone want a '05 140 Absolute and '05 L-Zeus'. He, he, he...

If you're on a budget I highly recomend buying used or last years models for a great deal. If your lucky you have friends that ride a lot and go through a lot of product. I always laugh when I go out with my friends and look at the board racks and realize I've owned either the board or the bindings on 3 of the 4 boards on the boat.

Once you start cycling through equipment it usually doesn't cost that much to get something new if you can wait till the fall to buy it. Selling your stuff regularly usually keeps it new enough and in good enough condition that you could e-bay it without any trouble.

I get a new pair of bindings every year, but I usually don't get a new board every year.

I'm riding a '04 Substance and I probably won't buy a new board until the '06 Watson goes on sale next fall.

centralcali 09-14-2005 6:02 PM

Evan-
If your serious about selling the Absolute, I may be interested. I've been hearing so much about the Absolute on this site, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I wouldn't need the bindings though. I just ordered a pair of 06 murrays - we'll see how the whole closed toe deal works out. I live in Stockton and visit Disco every now and then.

madchild1 09-14-2005 11:05 PM

now that i pay for it myself i get a new setup every year. i may skip the regular board and just get an 05 roam with my old teams and get the new watson boots or put 05 transits or 05 sphynxs on it.

kristian 09-14-2005 11:15 PM

I went through six or seven boards this year, broke them all and my current board is on the way out to.
