I finally sold my truck yesterday so I'm looking for a new to me truck. <BR> <BR>Who works for a dealer that wants to make me a SMOKIN deal on a truck? It has to be a 1 ton, long bed, 4 door, 4x4. No Chips. <BR> <BR>Gas if the deal is right.

trentmalik 09-07-2007 2:14 PM

I work for the largest comsumer leasing company in the country and can get you a great deal on a leased one. Let me know, Thanks

nasty530 09-07-2007 2:38 PM

I am an internet sales manager for a Toyota dealership. I will hook you up at $2000 below invoice. I'm located in Arizona, but a road trip would be fun right!?! I will hook anybody up for that matter!!

canecorso 09-07-2007 2:56 PM

Can you get me a discount and I buy it up in the midwest?

mastercraft1995 09-07-2007 2:59 PM

I wish Toyota made a 1 ton because I would buy it. <BR> <BR>I don't want to lease I want to buy. Do you sell the lease returns?

canecorso 09-07-2007 3:02 PM

from his web site they do sell leases to the public go to dmautoleasing.com

trentmalik 09-07-2007 3:48 PM

Yes we do, I will look and see what we have and get back with you.

nasty530 09-07-2007 4:48 PM

How much do you actually need to tow? The new Tundra puts out 381 hp 401 ft.lbs torque with a 6 speed automatic tranny and a towing capacity of 10,800 lbs. If that wont tow it, you should leave whatever it is there... <BR> <BR>RG what sort of vehicle are you looking for?

canecorso 09-07-2007 5:00 PM

I like the toyotas were looking at the 1/2 ton crew cab trucks. only looking to spend around 20k though. What can you get the 07 tundra for? Does toyota have something as employee pricing?

auto 09-07-2007 6:11 PM

Hey T-bag, when Toy makes a real truck in the 1 ton range with a diesel, give me and everyone in Texas a call. Until then, your smack is weak.

tyboarder03 09-07-2007 6:38 PM

mastercraft1995 09-07-2007 9:56 PM

This is my old set up. I still have the boat and camper with no plans to get rid of those 2. I had to many issues with the truck so I sold it. I might go older if I can find something in nice shape. If I put that on the back of a Toyota it would crush it.

Rg, <BR> <BR>Did you ever go test drive the new GM trucks you were thinking about? <BR> <BR>I was looking at NADA.com a few minutes ago to see what would have happened had I gone a different route. When I bought my 1/2-ton gas truck in Feb 05', it was $2K less than the EXACT same truck in a 3/4-version, and $7900 less than the same truck but with a Cummins Diesel. <BR> <BR>FYI, this is for a 05' Ram 4WD Quadcab, Lamamie, tow pkg, with 32K miles. Not included are various other extras. The new figures below is what I paid for mine and could have gotten the others for. FYI, this was below invoice with the options I bought. <BR> <BR>Here are the figures: <BR> New <BR> 05' Ram 1500 w/5.7L Hemi: $31,300 <BR> 05' Ram 2500 w/5.7L Hemi: $33,400 <BR> 05' Ram 2500 w/Cummins diesel: $39,200 <BR> <BR> Today's Trade-in &amp; Retail values: <BR> Ram 1500 w/ Hemi: 20,950 and 24,300 <BR> Ram 2500 w/Hemi: 24,000 and 27,800 <BR> Ram 2500 w/diesel: 28,200 and 32,300 <BR> <BR>Depreciation depending on trade-in or private sale at retail prices: <BR> Ram 1500 w/ Hemi: $10,350 - $7000 <BR> Ram 2500 w/ Hemi: $9400 - $5600 <BR> Ram 2500 w/ diesel: $10,700 - $6900 <BR> <BR>What really surprised me was the depreciation on the diesel as I expected it to be the least of the three. But it start off considerably more expensive in the first place. The CTD accounts for roughly 80% of all 3/4-ton Rams sold. <BR> <BR>Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that a 3/4-ton truck holds it's value. You have more money invested but you get it back and have the benefit of using it. What I didn't factor in though is that when I got my truck it was 0% for 48 months on a 1/2-ton and they weren't offering that on the HD trucks so that does affect the equation. If you were buying new, and they are offering the same deal on a the HD trucks that is something to take into consideration. Buying used though you can't get 0% so it doesn't matter. <BR> <BR>What's interesting is that if I had gotten the 2500 with the gas engine I would have already have recouped half of the $2K difference due to the lower depreciation. At that rate, by the time it's paid for it would cost me the same amount of money to have the 3/4-ton as the 1/2-ton. So like I said in an earlier post, I see no reason not to get the stronger truck. In fact if you're going to keep it long term it will cost you less overall to get the 3/4-ton because you will recoup more money when finally do trade it.

canecorso 09-08-2007 4:50 PM

Chad, <BR>I have went out and looked however wasnt able to test drive since I had my son with (2yr old). Furthermore the chevys 2500HD that we were looking at were like 50+k OTD, more than I want to spend. When looking at the gas sierra's and silverados' they are significantly less like 32k OTD. Not sure what were going to do yet, as such im happy we have some time since the new boat wont be hear for a while and wont need it for towing until next spring as such still keeping my eyes open for deals etc. Nevertheless I prefer the 3/4 ton vs the 1/2 ton trucks just price is an issue <BR> <BR>Intresting post though. Do dodge trucks keep their resale as good as the chevy's/fords/gmcs?

nasty530 09-08-2007 6:05 PM

Hey shane what makes your domestics so much better than Toyota? Would that be the extra depreciation that they all take? the huge rebates/employee pricing/0%/etc promos that it takes to sell them. Or is it the fair grounds that Dodge has rented to store their extra 50,000 trucks that they simply can't sell fast enough? Or is it the fact that Toyota is the ONLY truck that is produced and manufactured HERE in the US entirely.... yeah the ONLY one. Don't get me wrong, other companies make great trucks the Tundra simply out performs them. And I would be more than happy to put my money where my mouth is. Ask away!! <BR> <BR>(Message edited by nasty530 on September 08, 2007)

dcwillette 09-08-2007 6:48 PM

Rg, I wouldn't spend $50K either. Even though I like the Dodge, the answer is no, in general thier resale has not been as good. I really thing the Cummins is the best diesel engine out there in that market but the resale is probably better on a Ford and GM. I wouldn't let $1500 sway me toward a truck I didn't like as well though. <BR> <BR>I have conflicting data on Toyota Tundra resale. I remember it was a selling point they claimed 5 years ago or so but then I remember that they didn't actually live up to that. <BR> <BR>Toyota makes a great truck, and the new ones are impressive but I hate the new Tundra interior. In the 1/2-ton class it would be hard to fault it if you like the styling. If you want a HD truck to abuse though my confidence is still with the Ford,GM, and Dodge. <BR> <BR>T-bag... since you brought up sales, or lack there of, in what sounds like evidence of what makes a good truck. I would like to add that I have never, ever, seen a Toyota used for construction use or on a ranch. They're great daily driving and recreational use trucks but if the men who are really hard on trucks always put thier money into Ford, GM or Dodge that should tell you something. It tells me that Toyota has yet to break into the real Heavy Duty truck market.

auto 09-09-2007 5:16 PM

T-Bag- <BR> <BR>Obviously you have not been a part of wakeworld very long or have missed my posts. I am not a fan of domestics. <BR> <BR> <BR> I will re-state this for the hearing impaired and in the cheap seats. Listen carefully. <BR> <BR>I will be the first one in line to by a Toyota when.................... <BR> <BR>ONE TON Long Bed Diesel <BR> <BR> <BR>Until then, they do not make a truck that works for me. Pretty simple. <BR> <BR> <BR>P.S. Do not waste my time with any more PM's whining.}

nasty530 09-10-2007 8:20 AM

Shane if you look back a couple years I think you would find the Mighty Max to fit your needs perfectly. There is a one ton diesel version that I am sure would fullfill all the tasks you will put it through. My PM was in no way whining, I simply asked you not to slam me or my company. My truck has few shortfalls and is produced by the leading manufacture in the world. True that the current Tundra is the first real truck that Toyota has ever produced. As more and more of them get out onto the market, you will find that it will be used extensively in the construction/ranch/heavy duty industry. <BR> <BR>For those that are interested I can get you into a 5.7L V8 4x4 Crewmax for the neighbor hood of $33500 plus fees give or take a little depending on options.

helinut 09-10-2007 8:27 AM

Plus... if it wasn't for Toyota, what would 3rd world countries have to mount their heavy machine guns on? <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

auto 09-10-2007 8:45 AM

^^^^^ T-Bag. Have to love your persistence, but your knowledge level is just not there. <BR> <BR>Please direct me to website, where Toyota has a production 1 ton, LWB, 4x4 Diesel. That's it. This is the facts, not slamming. <BR> <BR>Simple, do it, and you will have a ton of domestic owners switching over, if not don't be making asinine statements like - <BR> <BR>"The new Tundra puts out 381 hp 401 ft.lbs torque with a 6 speed automatic tranny and a towing capacity of 10,800 lbs. If that wont tow it, you should leave whatever it is there." <BR> <BR>Until Toy does this, they are not an option. Since you don't know my needs, please do not assume.

mastercraft1995 09-10-2007 9:02 AM

It's a long Bed. <BR> <BR>I'm looking for something around the 20k range. All though the Dodge 0% financing for 72 month's is looking pretty tasty. <BR> <BR>I'll probably end up with a V-10 since everything I have fits Ford from 99 to 04.

nasty530 09-10-2007 9:09 AM

Shane, I am confused. "The new Tundra puts out 381 hp 401 ft.lbs torque with a 6 speed automatic tranny and a towing capacity of 10,800 lbs.." Are you asking if this statement is incorrect and that this truck does not exist in Toyota's lineup?

auto 09-10-2007 9:18 AM

I guess reading comprehension is not your specialty<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>? <BR> <BR>I could care less about those stats as they do not come attached to a <b>1 ton, DIESEL 4x4 LWB.</b> <BR> <BR>Is it clear yet? That tow weight does not cut it, clear? No diesel, clear? <BR> <BR>Please tell me you listen to your prospects better than you read.

johnsvt 09-10-2007 9:26 AM

t-bag I don't understand the crewmax 4x4 only has a listed towing capicity of 10,100 where do you get 10,800 lbs? Face to bad you are not closer just traded a 00 ford v10 4x4 long bed with 70's nice truck it will sell somewhere in the mid teens.

nasty530 09-10-2007 9:27 AM

Shane, breath man, I think you might be wound a little tight. Now that your statement is written clearly, I fully understand. There is no reason to be a dick.

nasty530 09-10-2007 9:32 AM

Ewing, the Tundra regular cab long bed with the 5.7L has a towing capacity of 10,800 lbs. The towing capacity will vary because of the weight of the truck depending on cab size, bed length and 2wd or 4wd.

auto 09-10-2007 9:36 AM

Finally, I guess my posts and the thread starters were confusing.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

zo1 09-10-2007 9:40 AM

^^^ haha, it only took him 5 posts for you to figure out what he was saying... <BR> <BR> <BR>IMO, the Tundra Interior looks like Poo... Exterior, so-so but the interior is bad. For me the interior plays a major role in the decision on a purchase as I can find a truck that will suit my towing needs etc from just about any Manufacturer.

auto 09-10-2007 9:43 AM

Manzo, I understood exactly what he was saying, just like the rest of the 1/2 ton gasser fans, wondering why anyone would "need" or want a diesel in a 3/4 or 1 ton config.

nasty530 09-10-2007 9:51 AM

Manzo, unfortunely I agree with you. I do not like the styling of the new Tundra, inside or out. The truck is amazingly functional but does not look appealing to me.

rson 09-10-2007 9:54 AM

God I go to Wein and a great post like this starts. <BR> <BR>Shane check you PM, I too sent you a letter asking that you don't hurt my feelings or state facts.

zo1 09-10-2007 10:21 AM

Shane, my post was refferring to T-Bag's earlier postm not yours... you beat me to the submit button...

auto 09-10-2007 10:27 AM

ahhhhhh Manzo, not an issue. It's all I good, I am still waiting for a Toy 1 ton diesel, guess I will have to buy another Ford.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/angry.gif" border=0>

canecorso 09-10-2007 10:32 AM

geeer some heated debates going on.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0> I got a good question who makes the best 1/2 ton pickup?<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

auto 09-10-2007 10:38 AM

^^^^^^ <BR> <BR>I think Toyota does, second the F-150, then Nissan.

nasty530 09-10-2007 11:09 AM

Thank you shane, I quess I have mis interperated (sp) your responses. My apologies...

canecorso 09-10-2007 11:39 AM

T-bag I can get that same setup (tundra-5.7 crew, 4x4 OTD without taxes for 30,888.00). Has 8-position seating, off road package, heated mirrors, cloth interior, black, towpackage, yadda yadda this is without not even knowing anyone. That is the best you can do? Doesnt seem that good of a deal?

nasty530 09-10-2007 11:46 AM

OTD without taxes? Taxes makeup 75% of the additional costs. Sorry but I am 100% positive you have been misinformed as to the equipment/pricing. The least expensive Tundra in that configuration in my ENTIRE region(6 states) is $33455.00 and currently there is a $2000 rebate on them. If you could please forward the dealerships name to me so we can start purchasing our vehicles from them instead of Toyota directly!

canecorso 09-10-2007 12:36 PM

T-add taxes and license and theirs your cost. Taxes = 75% of cost, huh never new that? how does 30,800.00 with 6.5%= 75% of cost? I get a total of $2197 in taxes how is that equal to 75%, how are you doing your math? <BR> <BR>This price I was given was on a black 2007, I told them I was looking at chevys with a friend giving me an employee pricing for a GMC for around 30k and thats all I am willing to pay. PM me I can give you the dealers name. Im up in the midwest, the sales lady had to talk to her manager to get that price for me. FYI: there a larger dealer that may be why...

nasty530 09-10-2007 12:53 PM

Sorry for the confusion, taxes are 75% of the additional costs of a purchase. IE additional amounts that are added onto the price of the vehicle to get an OTD price. That is trully an AWESOME price. It is possible they have a higher rebate amount in the different regions, that is the only way they could get to that low of a price.

bigjokerinthebox66 09-10-2007 12:55 PM

Just bought an 07 Tundra Crew Max 5.7 SB and this thing is sweet. Cost me $45,00 otd.

bigjokerinthebox66 09-10-2007 12:57 PM

Oh, also heard a rumored v10 6.4 litre diesel Tundra to be released late 2008 or 09.

mastercraft1995 09-11-2007 7:45 AM

I talked to a guy that works for a dealer yesterday and he knows a guy that runs the fleet of vehicle for his company. Allot of the vehicles are coming up at the end of the leases so they are going to be dumping them. The guy that runs it is selling his 04, PSD, King Cab, 4x4, 160k for $6,000. I would buy this but it's not a CC. All of the maintenance has been performed on the vehicles that he is in charge of. They will sell them to the public for what ever the lease company will give them for it. <BR> <BR>So Trent what would a Lease company buy a 05 Duramax, 4x4, Long Bed, LT1, CC with about 75k miles for? I think I'm going to wait for about a month or so and take a look at these vehicles when they come up for sale. I think they get 15k miles per year before they enter the mileage penalty.

mendo247 09-28-2007 7:54 AM

With all this talk about how the new tundras are built so tough and tow so well i found this pic funny. Look who they called upon when they wanted to tow their trailer showing off their race trucks. <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/505944.jpg" alt="Upload">

michael_h 09-28-2007 8:16 AM

now that is funny!!!!!!!!

dcwillette 09-28-2007 12:34 PM

Like I said.... Toyotas are great daily drivers and recreational trucks but not for serious work.
