Looking for tips on weighting my boat, I've been filling port, stb and center tanks full and have added 400lbs of lead 300 in the back and 100 in front. Here is a pic of the wake!

Bryan- With the 3 stock tanks full, my Avy likes about 160lbs under the observer seat to get rid of the port side wash. I also have about 500 in the nose and another 300 on each side of the rear hatches. I think I could use more in the back, but it is plenty for me. No matter what configuration I need to get up to about 22.7 or so for the wake to clean up. The extra weight under the observer's seat is crucial (IMO).

Bryan I think you will find better on the centurion owners sight www.centurioncrew.com

Bryan - what are you weighing the boat for (surfing or wakeboarding)

I dont wakeboard much, but from what guys say on CentruionCrew, 8Tens sounds about right on the wakeboarding. Add weight to the lockers and bow to get the size of wake you want and add extra weight to port side and increase speed to keep port wake from washing out.

Surf
1,200lb Avy sac (back locker and under seat)
250lb Center tank
300lb bow weight
400-750lbs on port seat (depends on size crew)

This set up generally runs me at the rub rail

8tens is in the ballpark although I just put about 100lbs more in the port bag rather than under the observers seat. I run about 200lbs in the bow with around 400lbs in the lockers. Speed is the key also. You gotta be around 23 to 25 mph to get the wake to clean up PERIOD.

Bryan,
I ride behind the 2008 C4 Avy a lot. It came with the center tank which doesn't do much at all.

Wakeboarding:
Center tank full, 400lbs. in the Port locker, 350lbs. in the Starboard locker and 750lbs. in the bow.
Carter is right about the speed. I find that riding between 24 and 26 cleans up the wake. I have never had the wake be perfect on both sides but as long as it is hard I don't mind much.

Wakesurfing:
750lbs. in the locker, 400lbs. on the seat and 400lbs. in the bow with the center tank full as well.

Its so crazy that even your port side is never really clean. Nice looking wake.

scott76310 02-24-2010 12:57 PM

I just bought some 750's for the rear lockers. How come I have seen several people mention that the Avy doesn't need much weight in the front but that doesn't look like the route you all are taking.

duffymahoney 02-24-2010 1:27 PM

I had to put weight in the front or my boat wouldn't get on plane. I only have the 315 hp motor and with a crew of people I have to have the bow sac filled. When I surf I normally don't run any bow weight. I also think it makes the wake a little harder.

Thank for yall's input, going to try a few options this weekend!

spencerwm 02-24-2010 9:52 PM

Yeah, we needed weight in the bow to plane out too but it also gives the wake a better transition. We also upgraded the prop to the Acme 537 which seemed to help with hole shot a lot.
