Stripping

Has anyone removed the black paint from their windshield or tower. I would like to strip my 01 sunsetter of the paint and leave it raw if it would look decent. All the boats I've owned through the years ended up with crappy looking windshield frames after 8 to 10 years of age.

better off with a $4 can of spray paint or some black tape and cover them all.

Your frame is powder coated aluminum. If you grind it bare, it will oxidize and look pretty crappy. It'll need at least a clear coat to keep it looking decent.

Ideally, you would need to remove the frame, have it stripped and then recoated whatever color you want. Lots of $$$. Just get a small jar of touch up paint and keep up with the chips. And don't ever trailer with a cover on unless you put pipe insulation or something over the frame to protect it.

These do a real good job on brass, Not sure how well they would do on the windshield, but I bet you could make it work. I've seen a few on the tower before and they seem to work just fine on those also.http://i806.photobucket.com/albums/y...e-dancing1.jpg
