Hey guys, I just wanted to get some info and maybe a little help from the san diego riders, and I know fellow wakeboarders from wakeworld would be a great place to start. Here’s the deal, I’m getting out of the Air Force this December and I really want to move to San Diego. I was wondering if any of you work in the IT field, and know of a good place to look for a job. I have A+ hardware/OS, Network+, Fiber optic installation certified, and TS/SCI clearance. Also I wanted to know what it’s like living there, pros and cons. I’d really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

You shouldn't have a problem finding a job. With your TS/SCI clearance you may want to start looking at SAIC http://www.saic.com/.

Keep in mind that SD is very expensive. The cost of living in SD is on par with the Bay Area yet you will make far less money.

~J.

I know San Diego is expensive, but I thought companies calibrate their saleries based on the cost of living. Is this not true?

No, that's not true. Many people will take a standard of living cut to live in San Diego. We call it the sunshine tax.

~J.

spawar systems center is where I worked doing software. It is civil service, but the pay is alright. There are a bunch of companies raytheon, saic, bae systems, cubic, trw, and many other defense contractors there.
