has anyone torn their lisfranc ligament in their foot? its the main ligament in your foot. i tore it last week, along with breaking a bone in my foot, and the doctor said it would take a year before i could go full force again.

has anyone done this? if so how long did it take you to be able to ride hard again? he said im gonna have to do rehab and that whole deal.

i haven't torn anything in my foot.

but i have torn a ligament and fractured my ankle.

i'll tell ya the break will heal quicker than the ligament......and that'll become frustrating as hell

I did bust up my foot (among other things) in a major accident a year and half ago. I just started riding again a few months ago and it was rough. I would totally see where you would be away for a year or so while you're rehabbin. You have any surgery to do? My boy I ride with just blew his knee last weekend. Gonna be out for well over a year.

Rest and do everything the doc tells you. Don't rush it, or you're more than likely end up with the same injury again. Once you get to the rehab specialist, let them know you ride and you plan to keep so as soon as possible. Ask about any extra things you can do to help strengthen that area of your foot. They should be more than willing to help you out. Hang in there, if anything, you can be the DD

(Message edited by bac on April 11, 2008)

I had the lisfranc injury exactly like Nic Jones. My X-ray looked very similar except mine was the left foot. To be honest it sucked. I was on crutches for over four months, non-weight bearing so my left leg shriveled up by the end of it. Once I had the pin removed it took alot of physical therapy. I still have trouble with it if I try and run over a few miles or in the summer a tight binding hurts after a while.
I hurt mine by not getting enough air on a scarecrow. I don't know about anyone else but that seems to be when I've gotten hurt, thinking about the trick before I get in the air. I landed on my back with my foot halfway out of the binding.
Sorry to hear about it and I hope my post isn't to depressing. Just trying to give my honest recap of what I went through. This happened to me back in 05 but I still ride now all summer. I also got a better pair of bindings that are more secure that I feel like my foot won't slide around or come out of. I feel like I'd rather have a knee injury than the lisfranc again.
Also, for some reason I can't get myself to do a scarecrow anymore, even though I used to land them all the time. Since I'm not a pro I'd rather be able to walk on two feet than tell someone I can do a scarecrow.

Had the exact same injury last year 05/07, right before the weather gets really nice. It took me 3 months in a boot and then another 2 months of rehab until I could put any type of force on my foot. I took my first set back at the end of November and it hurt to land to do a simple wake to wake. So I decided not to ride winter time and focus on rehab. I just took my first real set last week and my foot held up pretty good, but I know its not 100% yet. It still hurts the next day after I run, jump on a tramp for more then 20 mins or kick a soccer ball around with the kids. I forgot to mention I'm 31 years old, so it probably took me a little longer then say a 20 something year old. Stay positive and take your rehab with true diligence and you'll be back before winter time. Best of luck!

(Message edited by jbeau on April 12, 2008)

thanks for all the input guys. two surgeons and an MD said it was this lisfranc injury, but i took an MRI and CAT scans friday so they could look again to be sure. i really hope its not as bad as they initially thought, so im keeping my fingers crossed and praying. this was going to be my most productive season yet, so im really hoping the scans dont confirm this injury, lol.
