Anyone interested in a women's division for age 30+ at Nationals? We need 5 people to commit and ride in order to get WWA to consider running the division. Post up your thoughts.

wakekat15 11-22-2007 8:29 AM

Where and when will the event be held?

rnopr8 11-23-2007 9:09 PM

don't know yet. It was in June in Wisconsin last year. Just trying to see if there would be an interest for it.

wakekat15 11-24-2007 5:42 AM

I would be interested and can commit to ride.

rnopr8 11-24-2007 7:24 AM

Great...I hope others step up. It should be a lot of fun and a great experience.

lizrd 11-24-2007 4:29 PM

I am down for that! I live in IL so I can commit to being there. I have another friend over 30 who I know would be down for it, too. If they thought about it, us over 30 women spend plenty of cash on the sport and we would be a good investment for the division.

clearlakescott 11-24-2007 5:47 PM

true to the cash. 30 something women do spend tons of cash <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0> No really with kids and husband/boyfriends into the sport

rnopr8 11-24-2007 10:12 PM

You are right on Lizrd. I'm not sure where it will be this year yet though. I think a Women's 30+ would be a huge success. And you don't have to be throwing 9's to be competitive and have fun (might help though) <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/blush.gif" border=0> I will get the ball rolling then and see what I can do. We have lots of time to recruit. Thanks girls!!

lizrd 11-25-2007 3:26 PM

Scott - that is exactly my point. <BR> <BR>M.O.B. Let us know if there is anything you need us to do!

clearlakescott 11-25-2007 5:46 PM

I hope this gets going for you my girlfriend my ride in it too!

rnopr8 11-25-2007 8:01 PM

Awesome Scott..then if she wins she can get you more stuff from her sponsorships!!!<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Thanks for the support...I will keep everyone posted after i hear from WWA.

wazzy 11-26-2007 8:59 AM

I know my GF would be down for it. She rode at Nats last year &amp; was oldest by like 12 years....

rnopr8 11-26-2007 9:24 AM

Ok...I heard back from Priscilla at WWA and yes there can be a women's Masters division age 30+ (age 30 by Jan 1 2008). We need 4 women to ride in the division to run it. She said usually what they do is have you register in the regular amateur womens division and then say that you want to ride in the 30+ division. But since it is so far out from Nationals if she gets enough e-mails saying you will ride in the 30+ division, she will go ahead and register you in that division instead. <BR> <BR>I will send a copy of the e-mail to each of your e-mail addresses and anyone else who says they are interested. Thanks everyone!!!

clearlakescott 11-26-2007 3:08 PM

I have no problems riding some pink stuff especially free stuff.

rnopr8 11-26-2007 4:02 PM

<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0> Right answer!!!!

clearlakescott 11-27-2007 6:53 PM

because I want free stuff what will she need in her bag to win. I have all winter to ride her I mean help her!

criswb 11-27-2007 7:53 PM

While I dont qualify yet for that division, i think its great that you are doing this!

rnopr8 11-30-2007 9:28 PM

Cris...someday you will be up with the elite!!!!

push_girl 12-02-2007 4:26 PM

I'm down I also live in Illinois and competed last year in Nats, but screwed up my knee before Worlds, so I couldn't ride. I'm excited, I was talking about it last year when I was up against 19 year olds!! Sounds great!!

rnopr8 12-02-2007 11:00 PM

Awesome....I will forward you the e-mails from Priscilla...

polhamus 12-29-2007 4:13 PM

My question is what kind of tricks are you supposed to be doing to enter.

lizrd 12-29-2007 5:29 PM

I think smiling and waving might count...<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0>. <BR> <BR>If I enter it will be for fun - I can go W2W, grabs and 180s. Anything else is beyond me - but I have a fun time! I would love to see other adult females ride. And let me throw out there right now that I am about an hour from the contest lake so we could put together a ladies boat for another time that week, too.

rnopr8 12-29-2007 8:49 PM

Lizrd....that's about it in my bag of tricks too. But more than the tricks I have a great time. That would be great to do a ladies day for practice. I am definitely going and will post in the regular thread also. <BR> <BR>Come on ladies....let's make this happen!!!

wakekat15 12-30-2007 5:36 AM

I don't even know what state this event will take place in...can you ladies fill me in since I've committed to ride? <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Liz - I'd be interested in getting in a "ladies day out" set....wherever that may be!

lizrd 12-30-2007 7:21 AM

It will be in south-eastern WI starting August 6th. I live just over the border in IL. We have a Mastercraft and I am always ready to pull other females. Won't that be fun if we can get four together to get our own division?!

rnopr8 12-30-2007 9:04 AM

That would be great....so far 3 of us are in. One more committed to run the division. We can do it!! <BR> <BR>Kat..you in Fl?

polhamus 12-30-2007 9:15 AM

WWA was in Reno, Nevada this year. I live in cali. No chance of that again? I might commit and just fly out to do the comp, mini vacation!

rnopr8 12-30-2007 9:25 AM

This will be the 3rd year nationals is in Kenowsha, Wi....Lake Andrea. I live in Cali too and it will be a mini vac for me!! I think we would probably ride Wed &amp; Thurs....that's when Vets usually rides...but not sure. Kim..thats 4 if you go and that is what we need to run the division. I e-mailed wazzy to see if his GF was up for it.

polhamus 12-30-2007 10:36 AM

Sorry got the comp's mixed up. I will def. email Priscilla and hopefully be #4!

lizrd 12-30-2007 4:17 PM

I have one other friend that I will point towards this thread.

wakekat15 12-31-2007 6:48 AM

M.O.B. - yes, we live in Central Florida. Let me know if you are ever planning on being on this side of the continent! It was 84 degrees yesterday; although, we have a freeze warning for tomorrow!

rnopr8 01-01-2008 12:09 PM

Thanks Kat...anyone else for the division?

cece 01-01-2008 5:21 PM

Hey Geri, <BR> <BR>Provided I can stay injury free, I am planning on going again this year. A 30+ division would be great, so count me in!! <BR> <BR>BTW - Email me your address, I have prizes for you from the Buckeye event.

rnopr8 01-01-2008 6:52 PM

CC..that would be so AWESOME if you came!!! I'm planning on coming to the first few events again this year with you guys. So that makes me, CC, Lizrd, Kat, Kim (maybe) and push girl. That's 6 so far. Let's see if we can get enough to make 2 heats!!! Come on ladies!!! Julie K....you in? Allison?

nancy 01-02-2008 10:30 AM

I would go if I could find a ride. I don't know if I want to make a fool of myself. I have yet to land a trick. All I can do is surface 180 and jump the wake. I need some more practice time and a wakeboard boat instead of Moomba Boomerange. Anybody close to Indiana I am thinking about getting some lesson at the ski school in Indy this summer.

alliecat0223 01-03-2008 10:21 AM

I live near downtown and am not taking summer classes. I dont have a boat. I would love to ride with you. I would be in on the masters if you would open it up to a little younger it sucks being 24.

rnopr8 01-03-2008 1:08 PM

Nancy...the only fool is the one who doesn't get out there and have fun. <BR> <BR>Allie.....it sucks being 53 and riding in a division with 24 year olds!!!<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0>

nancy 01-03-2008 1:39 PM

I do have fun. It just that I a have a little boy who slows me down and he comes first. He is 3 right now. Allie don't be in a hurry to be 30. You will be there before you know it and stay in school so you can afford to stay in this sport. That is awsome that you are 53 hope to be able to wakeboard until the day I die or least until I'm 80.

nancy 01-03-2008 3:26 PM

Anybody else in Indiana needs a pull please PM. See you at the boat show Allie. I can't wait for spring it is to cold to go outside.

rnopr8 01-09-2008 5:40 PM

Ladies.....congratulations!!!!! We did it!!! I just got an e-mail from Priscilla and the Women's Masters 30 and over will be added to <BR> <BR>Air Nautique Wake Games which will be in Orlando, FL April 24-27 <BR> <BR>Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard Nationals in Pleasant Prairie, WI August 6-10 <BR> <BR>WWA Worlds in Oklahoma City, OK September 4-7 <BR> <BR>Let's represent at all three!!! Thanks everyone!!

wakekat15 01-11-2008 4:24 AM

M.O.B., <BR>I didn't know you were getting us into all that! Alright ladies, I live 45 minutes North of OWC. Let me know if you are coming to the April event and we'll plan a lake outing.

rnopr8 01-11-2008 4:04 PM

Kat...I didn't either!!! I was just working on Nationals but was blessed by all three. I am coming in April <BR> <BR>(Message edited by rnopr8 on January 11, 2008)

rnopr8 01-11-2008 4:14 PM

Kat.... thanks for the offer!! <BR> <BR>(Message edited by rnopr8 on January 11, 2008)

polhamus 01-11-2008 5:02 PM

Okay Ladies, I need help with a decision, cause I struggle with this everyday on making the decision myself. Should I try and get pregnant starting now, or ride at Nationals? I cant do all three, I live in Cali. Just Nationals. I am 31, and my clock is ticking. But....I keep telling myself one more summer, and one more com petition. HELP!! I need some feedback!! Thanks

rnopr8 01-11-2008 7:54 PM

Wow...that's a big decision. I had my first (and only biological child) at age 41. Having a child affects all aspects of life , not just riding. You are right...you will be off for a good year. And you shouldn't ride at all while pregnant....one bad fall and that can be the end of the pregnancy. In the past, when I need surgery I time it around wakeboard season....so I know how you feel. If you get pregnant now you may not be able to go to Nationals for a few years...kids are a full time job. But, at the same time, having a kid is so cool and National's will always be there. It's also important that both of you agree on the plan, which ever it is. Also take into consideration the schooling you want to do. It was extremely difficult going to nursing school full time with a 1 year old....I wouldn't recommend it but I survived with A's. <BR> <BR>You could always wait until after Nationals and if you get pregnant right away you would have the baby May-June and you could use the summer to get back into shape and help lose the weight. <BR> <BR>Good luck with the decision...I know the one you make will be the perfect one for your family.

laidback 01-16-2008 8:57 PM

Hey ladies I have a friend over 30 who would be interested in riding at the orlando stop. She's by far the best rider on our lake!!! Do you have to have competition experience to enroll? How do you go about registering? <BR>Thanks

lizrd 01-17-2008 5:53 AM

Kim - I looked at your profile and if I had that to ride behind I'd wait. <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

rnopr8 01-17-2008 11:35 AM

Lizrd---great point!!!

mayor_h 01-17-2008 3:58 PM

Vince, the first 2 comps are open to anyone; "Worlds" you have to qualify for by going to nationals. <BR>Congrats Socal on getting your division added, very cool !! <BR>Kat, you are 45mins north of OWC ? you must be close to me, I'm on lk. Howell in casselberry.

rnopr8 01-17-2008 7:17 PM

Thanks Nedge...I hope it becomes a division that a lot of ladies will enjoy competing in. <BR> <BR>Vince...on the home page of Wake World click on events then pro events. Click on wake games in April or Nationals in August. It will still say 2007 but if you click on the 2007 it will give you dates and divisions for 2008. They just haven't finished loading all the info yet. No comp experience necessary but it helps just to know what to expect. Have her do a local comp just to get the hang of it first. And just have fun!! I wanted this division included because our local club started it last year and it was a huge success....don't have to ride against young girls with rubber joints and no responsibilities!!! And there are a lot of good over 30 riders. I would encourage her to enter and ride.

a1flowergirl 01-17-2008 8:25 PM

Been out of the loop for WAY too long . . . But count me in! <BR> <BR>Liz -- we need to do a couple local comps so I know what to expect.

rnopr8 01-17-2008 8:56 PM

Sweet Jen!!!!! We are going to have such a great representation!! One of the ladies in our Women's Masters here said she will try to go too.

a1flowergirl 01-17-2008 9:07 PM

Let's just keep in mind that I'm coming off of knee surgery . . . but as long as I get the weekend off of work, I will do it. <BR> <BR>It's so good to have a goal for the season, isn't it? <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

rnopr8 01-17-2008 9:20 PM

Just make it a steady progression....which surgery?

a1flowergirl 01-17-2008 9:32 PM

ACL reconstruction . . . my second. All is going well though. I'll be completely recovered before the season even begins. I took it easy last summer and will be ready to hit the water running when the season starts. Hoping to take my frontside 180's w2w and get an invert under my belt. And a 360 would be nice . . . maybe I'm asking too much, but it doesn't hurt to try! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0> I'm just really hoping for a pain-free, productive season this year.

polhamus 01-17-2008 9:48 PM

Thanks ladies for your imput. wakeboarding is hard to give up. i think I will wait until after summer. I have new tricks I need to keep trying!! sounds like we should fly in to milwaukee. Does that sound right?

wakekat15 01-17-2008 9:53 PM

Nedge - I am close to Leesburg and usually ride on Lake Weir in Marion County. <BR> <BR>Jen - I have you beat...3 ACLs myself! Right knee twice! Please remember ladies to bend your knees on tantrums into the flats! And....why I rarely do those anymore!

rnopr8 01-17-2008 9:59 PM

Kim..Sounds right....glad you will be joining us. How is Schwennes looking for you? <BR> <BR>Jen...ouch..second one...how did you do it? I would love to get my 360. Been working on it at the tramp gym and it's great cardio. <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/523489.html?1199933712" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/523489.html?1199933712</a> <BR> <BR>(scroll to the bottom) <BR> <BR>(Message edited by rnopr8 on January 17, 2008)

a1flowergirl 01-18-2008 5:10 AM

I did my left one snow skiing two years ago. Did the right one last April wakeboarding . . . was just doing a simple heelside w2w and it snapped when I landed. The fall that I took when I tore the left one was pretty rough on both knees and I'm sure that I've been favoring the left one ever since I tore that one. I can't say that I was totally surprised. <BR> <BR>But I rode all summer and just kind of took it easy . . . didn't push too hard but I got a ton of riding time in. Then I had surgery in September (so I get the whole planning surgery around wakeboarding season -- my doctor wasn't thrilled, but he let me do it). Rehab is going great and I'll be 110% by the time the season starts. <BR> <BR>Kat -- Sorry to hear about your three! I'm hoping to keep mine at two. I like to tell everyone that I have two new knees now! <BR> <BR>I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! This is going to be a fun season!

mayor_h 01-18-2008 2:26 PM

Kat, tantrums into the flats....sweet !! I like your boat alot!!!....looks like mine ! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0> (with reversed colors)

a1flowergirl 01-18-2008 5:11 PM

Okay, so I'm going to have to get the time off from work . . . any idea which days to ask for? I don't think I'll be able to get all 5 days off. I could probably take 3 days that week.

lizrd 01-18-2008 7:44 PM

I would bet Women's Masters would be the first or second day of the contest. The first two days if there are enough women for two heats. From what I remember they let the pros and good juniors go over the weekend. SoCal - did they narrow it down to a particular day? <BR> <BR>Jen-We will definitely enter a few local contests before then to get ready. Midweek Wakeup looks to be on Tuesdays this summer with a few weeks being contests and a few weeks being demos.

rnopr8 01-18-2008 10:00 PM

Liz---no..Priscilla said she would have exact days pretty soon but you are right...they usually have womens and Vets the first 2 days. I will only take off enough days to ride too. Are you also doing wake games? I am going to try...probably 90% yes.

cece 01-19-2008 9:22 AM

Geri - Can you post the days as soon as you get them? Also Vets if you find out when they are going to ride. I'm having a hard time scheduling our last contest due to conflicts in August. The sponsor want to hold it the 9th. Needless to say, I'm freaking out!!

rnopr8 01-19-2008 2:54 PM

sure CC...I'll e-mail Priscilla and see if she has them yet. I think in the past Vets rode the first 2 days...not 100% sure and can't find any old schedules in the archives. I would imagine we would ride then too. You can probably be home for the tourney...I hope we don't have our tourney that weekend.

cece 01-19-2008 5:51 PM

Thanks Geri, YOU'RE THE BEST!!! I think you are right, in the past master, vets and women have ridden in the first two days. Hopefully this year stays true to form.

rnopr8 01-19-2008 7:14 PM

I'll let you know as soon as I hear. Have fun with your freeze your --- off ride next week!! I plan on doing most of your tourneys this year...can't wait to start riding again!! Oh...got the package....love it, thanks!!!!

cece 01-19-2008 8:39 PM

Glad you got it! The event should be fun, I've gotten a lot of positive feedback so far. We went riding today. Water temp was 55 air temp was low 60's. <BR> <BR>Can't wait for nationals and worlds!

rnopr8 01-19-2008 8:52 PM

Great...I would come but I have had to slip a couple of surgical procedures in this winter before wakeboard season so still not able to get on the water yet. Actually 2 more weeks before I can get on the tramp and lift weights again. check this out and scroll to bottom-- <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/523489.html?1199933712" target="_blank">www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/523489.html?1199933712</a>

a1flowergirl 01-19-2008 9:19 PM

Okay . . . I got the time off from work. Now I just need to get some skills <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> <BR> <BR>Can't wait for the season to start!

rnopr8 01-19-2008 9:34 PM

Jen...I am sure you have lots of skills....you have until Aug to hone them...<a href="http://www.ragingbuffalo.com" target="_blank">www.ragingbuffalo.com</a> is in your area....check them out...they seem fairly reasonable...take a couple (or a hundred) lessons if you need to!!! <BR> <BR>CC....last years Masters, Vets and Amateur Womens were on Wed and Thurs with awards ceremony on Thurs...I would think they would be the same this year

a1flowergirl 01-19-2008 9:42 PM

Funny you should mention Raging Buffalo . . . that's who I started wakeboarding with. I usually take a lesson every week or two. It helps to fill in when I can't get on a boat . . . which isn't too often. More than anything, I think I just need to get into a couple of local comps to get a feel for what it's like to put together a set. <BR> <BR>It's good to know that I have a concrete goal to work towards this year . . . as if my first invert, w2w 180s, and a 360 weren't enough ;)

rnopr8 01-19-2008 9:51 PM

Right....Me too!!! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0> <BR>I would be happy if I even tried my 3!!! <BR> <BR>(Message edited by rnopr8 on January 19, 2008)

rnopr8 01-23-2008 8:17 PM

who's going to wake games?

lizrd 01-24-2008 4:51 PM

"Not I," said the fly. I have a work conflict.

rnopr8 01-24-2008 7:27 PM

Liz.....Look forward to meeting you at Nationals

rnopr8 03-30-2008 10:32 PM

Hey ladies!!!Wake games is right around the corner. Anyone doing the Womens Masters division? I am swamped at work and can't get off....in the middle of a huge project...but I am going to Nationals..already have room, tickets, etc. Just want to make sure the division is represented in its maiden year. <BR> <BR>Liz..how far are you from Kenosha??

rnopr8 03-30-2008 10:39 PM

BTW....this year No Fear is putting on a series of 4 tournaments.. and they are including womens masters 30+!!!!! AWESOME!!! I will be at all 4. Hope to see more of the mature ladies at these tourneys. It will be a great time!! Check out the website for more info <a href="http://www.wake2waketour.com" target="_blank">www.wake2waketour.com</a>

lizrd 03-31-2008 5:26 PM

Jen and I are about 1 hour from Kenosha. Just close enough to sleep in my own bed with my own dogs.

rnopr8 03-31-2008 7:04 PM
