Hey Guys,

I am looking to get a new wakeboard, or at least new to me but I need some suggestions. I have been riding for quite some time, but my local shop isn't around anymore so I can't really demo any boards now.

I currently ride a 134 CWB Flame, but I have decided the board is too heavy for what I would like. So I would like to get some suggestions for a lighter and even a little less wide board, don't need any pro boards either. I know this is really broad, so if there is even a specific brand that is usually lighter, that can be a help as well.

Thanks for your input, also if anyone has a board for sale that might meet my request let me know and I will see about making a deal.

I like the Liquid Force Witness. I ride the 140, my 14 year old son rides the 136 and my 12 year old son rides the 132.

I also ride the Witness and of late, others on the boat prefer it to their board. Its the best board I've ridden.

CWB is actually known for lighter boards. The Flame is not really a heavy board, but you can certainly find something lighter.

The lighter boards will normally be the more expensive cores, which are usually found in the pro models.

I've ridden most of the CWB line, and I prefer the Platinum Transcend. It's nearly pound lighter than the foam cores (like your Flame). The Platinum core is also available in the Marius, and Absolute shapes.

Also, most of the newer boards ARE wider. That's kind of the new thing.

What is it that you are trying to accomplish?

LF makes pretty light boards.... I have never ridden the witness but there price tags are right and from what I hear there riding is to! Every liquid force I ahve ever been on has been fairly light and user friendly. The subjekt, watson, and now lyman I have all ridden and really had no complaints. Dont think you can go wrong with a LF board right now.

Hyperlite B-SIDE

just about every company makes a lighter core for some of their boards, but generally they do it for only the pro model boards and thus the price can go up pretty steap, as high as $700 for some.

CWB --> "platinum" core
Hyperlite --> "DINE" and "NOVA" cores
RONIX --> DARK CORE
LF --> next year is introducing the "FLY" core
GATOR --> has a machined PVC core, forget the name, but i think only one board has it
SLINGSHOT --> all their boards are a hybrid of wood and closed-cell foam that is really thin and light... not THE lightest, but very light nonetheless, especially in "swing weight"

I might be missing some companies...?

sometimes the way the board is shaped will help it "feel" lighter, though the overal weight is the same. you can look for boards with a dished out tip and tail. this will concentrate the weight under the feet and make the "swing weight" less. a good example is (but not limmited to) hyperlite tribute --> heres a vid of the tribute that also describes the "swing weight" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zV3gfPh-fT8). you can find other videos of hyperlite boards and other companies boards on youtube too

LF is reintroducing the Fly Core? Is it the same core they were using back in '97? Fascinating.

http://wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=38

Bryce, honestly man what are you trying to accomplish? A pound of board weight does very little for the way it rides and is hardly noticeable unless you are doing very advanced stuff. Try a Platinum CWB, it's lighter and pops harder due to the rigidity of the core.
